The GOP and White-Collar Welfare

22 Aug 2012 18:06 #1 by Raees
On Monday, President Obama addressed false claims in a Mitt Romney campaign commercial says that the Obama administration is doing away with the requirement that welfare recipients work after two years on assistance.

Republicans actually requested the waiver. Romney was among several Republican governors who signed a letter in 2005 asking for more flexibility. Mittens is attacking President Obama for granting a request that Romney himself made. Hypocritical much???

In 2010 the current Republican vice presidential candidate, Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, publicly objected to what he called "the discredited economic playbook of borrow-and-spend Keynesian policies." Ryan was referring to President Obama's stimulus package, but a little fact-checking shows that Ryan supported similar measures under President George W. Bush after the Sept. 11 attacks.

Strange. Keynes works under Republicans when W was doing it after 9/11. But Obama still can't get unemployment under 8.3%

It's sure not because of the great cooperation from the opposition party on the jobs bill.

Check the vote R. Both the Dems and Republicans voted down Obama's plan. The Senate too.

Not to worry Raees - once the Rebublicans gain the majority in the Senate in November, old Harry won't be obstructing jobs bills like he is right now. If we manage to get rid of the "my way or the highway" executive and replace him with leaders who have a track record of reasonable compromise at the same time, we stand a fair chance of getting the unemployment figure well below the 8+% figure its been stuck at for nearly 4 years as well.

You guys are a little more hopeful than I am. I think it could be a 50-50 split and then Ryan would be voting on tie breakers. (Or Joe Biden.)

You had me for a moment, I thought you were being serious. Good job of satire. Point out the Republican leadership who have any record of compromise.

Boehner.
Mitch McConnell.
A lot of Republicans did work with Bill Clinton. Maybe Obama is just a social introvert who doesn't know how to negotiate?

You mean Mitch "we won't pass anything that might help Obama" McConnell? Boehner who can not even get his own party members to vote together. great examples.
