Mitt Romney Compared Tea Party To 'Ferret In The Dishwasher': Michael Grunwald Book
Mitt Romney compared the tea party to a "ferret in the dishwasher" in a conversation with former Sen. Bob Bennett (R-Utah), according to a new book. The longtime senator lost his seat in a 2010 state party caucus vote because of a surge in Tea Party support for his opponent, now-Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah).
The anecdote was published in Time magazine in an adapted excerpt from Michael Grunwald's "The New New Deal," a sharply reported book about how the stimulus came to passage.
Bennett says his friend Romney commiserated with him about the Tea Party’s ingratitude, telling a presumably apocryphal story about getting bitten by a ferret he had tried to rescue from a dishwasher. "Mitt said the Tea Party people are like that ferret in the dishwasher," he says. “They’re so frightened and angry, they’ll even bite Bob Bennett, who’s trying to get the country out of this mess.”
The Tea Party has often viewed Romney with skepticism. The Tea Party-aligned group FreedomWorks opposed him in the primary, citing his past moderate positions. Since then, the group has dropped its opposition to Romney, and leaders like Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) have endorsed him.
At the Republican National Convention, Tea Party activists are holding a rally outside the arena in Tampa featuring Herman Cain and Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), both of whom opposed Romney during the primary.
rofllol Romney has soooo much respect for the "Ferrets", er, teabaggers.... Nice to see that they will be holding a rally outside with those mental-giants, Bachmann and Cain...
LJ has nothing to do but throw bombs. She has no intention of doing anything productive or making suggestions to improve our economy, she only wants to make sure she puts bitterness into the world. She wears such blinders that I have yet to see her say anything about the massive corruption and hypocrisy on her own side....
Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!
I've posted several things about my ideas to improve the economy. The fact that you all don't agree with them is irrelevant to me.
Bitterness? You mean like accusing the president of being a Muslim? Of being an illegal alien born in Kenya? Of hanging out with "terrorists"? You mean like that? All you guys do all day long is hurl bombs at Obama and Biden.
It's a b*tch when the same kind of stuff comes back at you, isn't it....

I don't do any of that. I debate the issues. If you would just debate issues instead of purely posting hit pieces-not caring what portion is true, just that it attack some rep (then trying to paint all the GOP with that broad brush) you might have some sense of respect. Currently your bile/quality debate ratio is about 1%

Whether you, individually, do or not is not the issue... But you knew that.
I just uploaded a mountain of data-links to show Romney's tax-avoidance. I don't expect anything from any on the Right except the usual deflection. I consider that to be an issue. The fact that no one on the right has any comment to make other than, "Well, was it illegal?" tells me all I need to know.
I continually ask other than "He's not Obama", what ya got? [silence]... The man is a self-serving crook whose only motivation seems to be that he "wants to be president"...He brings nothing else to the table. The fantasy about "business experience" and "job creation" has been reduced to lies and talking-point drivel.
So spare me your "I'm taking the high road" meme....

We all do tax avoidance. I know I do, and I suspect you do too. We just don't have the ability, (or enough funds) to make the more sophisticated means and methods. One of the reasons I think we need the fair tax, or a flat tax is for this reason. The wealthy have more $$ and more incentive to make sure they take every means necessary to avoid taxes. We need to change the system, that is for sure. But the question is, will Obama or Romney do anything to change it? Not likely. If anything, Romney would do more since he wants to change the tax system substantially. Can he actually do it, or does he actually mean it? Who knows. We know Obama won't change it. He has had 4 yrs and hasn't even brought up wholesale changes to a bloated tax code.
See, we can debate issues, or probably even agree on some things this way.
