GOP's 'We Did Build This' Speaker Didn't Build That

With the GOP's logic, somebody can have an idea to build a house, and the fact that they were helped by a government loan to buy the bricks and mortar is irrelevant.

Funny thing how that "economic purity" thing is a total illusion... She wouldn't have been able to build it without the $17million of GOVERNMENT MONEY? She DIDN'T DO IT BY HERSELF. If the Government had not been there with the $17million, she would have had nothing to build it with.

God, I love the smell of hypocrisy in the morning.

It isn't government money. It is taxpayers money and debt built on future tax receipts.

FLASH: Government money = Taxpayers money... Must drive you nuts... And even delusional conservatives build things by borrowing money from the government... Even though they love to take credit for "doing it by themselves."

Wrong again like usual. You don't know if she could have built it with private financing.

She's not claiming that she could have done it with private funds...In fact if you read the article she was teaching others "how to get government funds" to start their businesses. Sorry, Snarky, you've lost this one.

"she's openly encouraged other business owners to rely on taxpayer funding, Media Matters reported Thursday"

Face it, she is the poster girl for government assistance to help build a business. The TeaOP really screwed the pooch picking her to highlight the We Built This meme.

You just have to love the "progressive" ability to prognosticate what would have happened in wholly different circumstances, don't you? To sever any and all ties to logic and reason in the quest to have you buy into some fantasy they have created hoping to advanced a theory they wish to forward?

Tell us SFB - how is it that you KNOW that a private loan wouldn't have been available in the absence of the affirmative action programs created by the federal government encouraging the populace to vote for their living? Did every low/no interest loan backed by a federal guarantee that was approved for a business owned by a woman achieve equal success? If it was the loan that built the business then all such loans would have been as successful. That they were not says that something other than the loan is responsible for the success.

Logic and reason are your friends SFB - reintroduce yourself to them. It's been a long time since you have seen them.

We also don't know what other government-funded programs she took advantage of, funded by taxpayer dollars. SBA has many programs to help small businesses besides loans.

I don't think some of y'all understand SBA loans, the money comes from banks and credit unions, the gov't (taxpayer) only guarantees the loan, and probably enables lower interest rates too, sort of like Fanny/Freddie for mortgages, and student loans. SBA also pushes affirmative action so it's poorly named IMO. I've written SBA grant proposals and attended DOE SBA conferences, and I quickly learned what it's all about. I'd rather see private investment capital start businesses and SBA funding used only as a last resort when capital is unavailable. The Repubs screwed up with this one, and should have picked a better example, plenty of businesses are started with private capital.

One also has to wonder about the non-competitive gov't contract orders she received, do SBA loan holders get preference? Gov't should generally stay out of investing in companies, too much temptation for political cronyism and favoritism, not to mention placing taxpayers at risk.
