The Economist, a business oriented conservative magazine really nails Romney in an editorial.
"Would that Candidate Romney had indeed presented himself as a solid chief executive who got things done. Instead he has appeared as a fawning PR man, apparently willing to do or say just about anything to get elected. In some areas, notably social policy and foreign affairs, the result is that he is now committed to needlessly extreme or dangerous courses that he may not actually believe in but will find hard to drop; in others, especially to do with the economy, the lack of details means that some attractive-sounding headline policies prove meaningless (and possibly dangerous) on closer inspection. Behind all this sits the worrying idea of a man who does not really know his own mind. America won’t vote for that man; nor would this newspaper. The convention offers Mr Romney his best chance to say what he really believes."
You mean like most politicians? McCain ran as a conservative to win the presidency but actually was a moderate as a Senator. Obama ran as a moderate to win the Presidency but was very liberal in the Illinois statehouse. So what kind of President did he turn out to be? A hawk on foreign affairs, although he ran as the anti-Bush for President. Why aren't you talking about Barack's flip-flopping.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
I am just saying predicting how a guy will rule can be very different if you base it on his campaign speeches. Did you expect Obama to be such a hawk?
And I will actually question my choice. Romney is a very mixed bag. While he runs right now as a social conservative, I think he will actually run as a social moderate and a fiscal moderate.
He does realize how the current system can't be sustained financially. But he also showed in Massachussets a willingness to work with the other party to get things done socially.
I think he will compromise and give up some things I like to achieve goals. The Economist thinks he has committed to a hard right wing socially conservative agenda, but I just think it would be impossible to enact even if he wanted it, which I don't think he does. The Senate will still be 50-50 or close to that and also won't approve any Supremes who aren't seen as moderate.
I know it is only a guess but check back in four years and I think if Romney wins, it won't be a marked change from right now just hopefully a better economy and a decrease in debt levels.
But back to Dog who thinks America will fail if Mitt wins.

America MAY fail if Romney is elected. It WILL fail if Obama gets another 4 yrs to drive us over the fiscal cliff. He has no intention of reining in the deficit or making any hard decisions.
Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!
