Gov. Mitt Romney's campaign toasted its top donors Wednesday aboard a 150-foot yacht flying the flag of the Cayman Islands.
The floating party, hosted by a Florida developer on his yacht "Cracker Bay," was one of a dozen exclusive events meant to nurture those who have raised more than $1 million for Romney's bid.
Romney to date has declined to identify the names of his top "bundlers" -- those who gather checks from scores of donors on the candidate's behalf.
"He is the first nominee in 12 years to withhold these names," said Sheila Krumholz, executive director of the Center for Responsive Politics, which tracks political money on the website opensecrets.org.
And evidently you have never been yachting much.
As a matter of courtesy, it is appropriate to fly the flag of a foreign nation on your boat when you enter and operate on its waters. There are only a limited number of positions from which flags may be displayed. Therefore, when a flag of another nation is flown, it usually must displace one of the flags displayed in home waters. However, it is hoisted only after the appropriate authorities have granted clearance.

The yacht was moored at the St. Petersburg Municipal Marina.
Who said anything about outrage? That sort of is to be expected in the jet-set, yacht-riding world of Mittens Rmoney who has his money in non-taxable offshore accounts.

I agree Raees - that is the point. The point is that the tax system in this union of ours encourages people to register their yachts in the Cayman Islands rather than registering them here. That which you want more of you tax less, that which you wish to see less of you tax more. The federal government obviously has decided that they don't wish to have yachts registered in the United States by deciding to tax them at a rate which encourages yacht owners to register them somewhere else. 15% of something is worth a whole lot more to the general treasury than 40% of nothing after all, right?
It's a great idea. I wonder how life for Cayman Island citizens compares with the life of U.S. citizens, since they've obviously attracted so many yacht owners and those 15% taxes.
I wonder why Rmoney and his croonies don't move there permanently since they seem to like it so much.
Great, the guy that the right is offering up for president flies the flag of another country on the yacht that he is entertaining mega donors on and you guys are DEFENDING it. So much for America first.
It is the wrong flag. The flag that RMoney should be flying should have $$$ on it as that is what his loyalty is to. Screw America is what that flag is saying.
