They're still Americans.

That is true enough, but aren't the citizens of the State of Michigan a State of Michigan concern more so than a State of Colorado one?

Why stop there? Aren't the citizens of Detroit more of a concern to Detroit than to citizens of Denver? And now you understand why we have to pay a Denver tax to work there.
