The sooner people get over the idea that there is such a thing as a "perfect" president, the sooner we might get back to some civility in political discourse. That is true for congress critters, local officials, anyone who seeks public office and gets elected. We set them up to fail because we expect far too much from them, and expect them to be infallible. Much as parents can set their kids up for failure by expecting them to be "perfect", and criticizing them when they fail, but not praising them when they do well. The last 4 years have had both successes and failures, as has any presidency......even your much revered Reagan was NOT a perfect president...nor was Kennedy or Clinton. The difference I see is that we were a more forgiving society then, less judgmental and critical. The GOP vowed they would make Obama be a one term president....this was a goal even before his first day in office, they have done their job well, and may very well limit him to one term. But I see a change in the voter sentiment.....maybe just a slight one, but the feeling I get is that people are tired of this animosity between the parties, they are tired of watching their elected officials act like children with their petty feuds and obstruction of the country's business.
If Obama does win a second term, and I hope he does....I hope both democrats and republicans will take a good look at what they have done these last 4 years....there are certainly things Obama could do better and things and people in his administration that need to change....and the Republicans need to realize that they had the perfect opportunity to retake the Oval Office and blew it, I wonder how much is dislike of Romney, and how much is a general dislike of what the GOP has become over the last 4 years.
Maybe some soul searching is in order for both parties.
