So the oil companies have refinery problems that effect supply, which raises prices, and this is Obama's fault?

So what are the most likely responses from Obama on the campaign trail about spiking energy prices?

1) It's Bush's fault.

2) The President doesn't have any direct control over energy prices.

3) What are you waiting for? Go buy a Chevy Volt today!

4) It turns out that my energy policy is going to need four more years to bring this problem under control. Trust me...

5) What solutions do my opponents have to offer? They want to overturn Obamacare, increase taxes on the Middle Class, and serve roast dog meat to our children in their school lunches. Uh, ok, I'll concede that I'm all for serving our kids dog meat, it's delicious...

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Obama could suspend the EPA regional blend requirements so that California stations could use fuel from other States. But he isn't a man of action.

How about why are we giving tax breaks to oil companies to make record profits but they don't keep their refineries up and running yet can adversely effect our economy and hurt the middle class. Do we really want to put the GOP the oil companies best friends, in charge?

The Left likes to trot out the talking point of record oil profits but as a percent of sales it is much less than other industries that get government tax credits like pharmaceuticals.

then we should stop those too. Why do we give them special consideration? Are they incapable of standing on their own. If conservatives are all about free enterprise, personal responsibility, and were against bailouts, why do you support these subsidies?

I don't support corporate tax credits. I just get tired of having to explain that oil companies aren't the only corporations getting tax credits.

I didn't mean to imply that they were, but oil companies were the current topic.

IIRC I think Congress or "W" suspended regional gas blend requirements when New Mexico had a refinery fire.
