France's 'Rich' Tax = Deals on Paris Mansions

Looking to live in socialist France?

There's a fire sale going on.

Taxes on the rich don't really matter much though- do they?

"There is a real flow of French people leaving because of the taxes," said Charles-Marie Jottras, president of Daniel Feau Group, the luxury real-estate brokers in Paris.

Real estate agents say that the number of multi-million-dollar real-estate listings in Paris has jumped more than 25 percent over last year -- due in part to the threat of the new income tax.

More than 400 new listings have come onto the luxury real-estate market over the past six months, they say.

Still, brokers say the 75 percent tax on the wealthiest French citizens has contributed to the decision by many of the them to sell their homes in anticipation of a possible move to another country.

Brokers say that many of the buyers of French real estate are wealthy foreigners, who would not be hit with the new taxes. Russians and Middle East buyers top the list, they say, followed by Europeans, Americans, Latin Americans and an occasional buyer from Asia.

Wow...They should move here... If you're as rich as RMoney you only pay 13-14%

And the worst that's being proposed is a 3.8% increase on the amounts over $250,000...(Back to where it was when we had a surplus in the budget, and 23.1 million jobs were created.)

Unintended consequences? Earn money in country, move out to avoid high taxes. Sell place to idle rich while you be idle rich somewhere else.

Romney should have done this. Obama should do this with his newly aquired millions. Back to Indonesia?

"Progressives" will watch the consequences of chasing the biggest taxpayers away and still they will wonder where the tax base went. Insanity.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Duh....which is why I posted that...Seriously, where do you think the wealthy here in the US will go if they decide to leave? China? Or India? how about Russia.....your prediction that progressives will watch the wealthy taxpayers go away and wonder where the tax base went is pure hyperbole.
