Conservatives 'More Sensitive to Fear'

No wonder why CNN's ratings are low – they're diagnosing a large part of their potential audience with a disorder.

Excuse me, didn't the Conservatives do that same thing, claiming people who support the Democratic candidate were moochers and takers? How that did THAT work out for them?

So that means Dem voters are more Pollyannas? Don't worry about record debt...

Fear is the preferred tool of politicians ---- of every breed. We called it "scare tactic" when I worked in DC.

We can talk about debt, guns, the right to choose, and xenophobia (and fear of xenophobia).

Scare tactics get people to respond - I doubt they'll go away.

When you're incumbent, you're usually less likely to use those tactics, simply because you have a record to run on.
(less so the case this past year).

Well, Fred, we don't believe there's a boogeyman behind every door, or FEMA is getting ready to march us into death camps, or that Obama is out to destroy America. Heck, if he wanted to do that he could have just done nothing when he took office and let the economy crater.... I believe in being optimistic about the United States. That out of our worst adversities, we recover and move forward.

From the article:

DOCTOR WENDY WALSH, human behavior specialist: Well, I don't want to discount for one minute how real these symptoms are. I was on talk radio the other night and some of the callers were expressing major, not only emotional distress but even physiological symptoms -- vomiting, sleep disturbances, unable to eat, like real, real emotional distress from this. So, we should not discount that and we can't laugh about it. This is very, very serious. And I call it post-election stress disorder.

You mean like how the public are told that Republicans will end Social Security or legal abortions? Even though this hasn't happened under previous administrations? Or even come close?

Re: ending Social Security. That darn Ron Paul! Social Security is a socialist program. Wouldn't you agree?

And Romney said time and again he would overturn Roe v Wade.

Promising to overturn Roe has been part of Republican pandering to the social conservatives for decades.

Not one of them ever moved appreciably in the "desired" direction.

People forget:
- Justice Blackmunn, who wrote the original decision - was appointed by a Republican president.
- Justice O’Connor, who has upheld the original decision - was appointed by Reagan
- Justice Souter, again upheld the original decision - was appointed by George W. Bush
- Justice Kennedy, who wrote an opinion that struck down Sodomy laws - was appointed by Reagan.

Romney could not have stopped abortion any more than President Obama could stop poverty.

But hey - hysteria sells --- it sells papers, it sells radio spots, and it sells lots of nice glossy election pamphlets.

Imagine the NARAL budget without the hysteria..........

To be fair - the NRA needs people like President Obama just as much.
