Killing the Golden Goose but they will never learn.

I suspect a lot of the UK people didn't emigrate, they just changed their investing strategy to keep themselves below the limit.

LJ would prefer a country where people based their investments on tax consequences instead of what makes the most money, for example buying tax free municipal bonds instead of creating new jobs by opening a new franchise.

You don't get to tell me what I "would prefer"...But thanks for playing.

What I would prefer is that mega-million companies like Wal-Mart pay their fair share by paying the millions in taxes owed on their property...(And the states are slowly wising-up and closing those loopholes--much to Wal-Mart's dismay.... I know, because I helped one state close that loophole.)

And I would like to see vulture moochers like Mitt-Flop pay a lot more than 13.99% on his hidden money in off-shore accounts. (And no, that "job-creator" crap doesn't fly... He killed about as many jobs as he allegedly created...) But since he never showed his tax-returns, we'll always wonder just what he DID do with all his off-shore money, won't we...

Fair is in the eye of the beholder, isn't it? Is it fair that a group that earns 40% of all income pays 80% of all income taxes? That doesn't sound very fair to me, what sounds fair to me is for those who earn 40% of all income pay 40% of all income taxes. Know what the #1 tax haven is? IRAs and 401Ks - rich people get to fund them with pre-tax dollars and lower the amount of their income that is subject to being taxed. Would be a lot fairer to remove that provision from the tax code, don't you think? After all, who but one in the top 1% can afford to stuff $20K a year into a 401K tax free? The poor people, who shouldn't have to pay any income taxes at all according to current "progressive" theory, can't afford a 401K, so the tax exemption is nothing more than another subsidy for the rich folks, right?

Geez PS, why are you bringing fairness and mathematical logic into the tax issue? We are riding a wave of populist, tax the rich, post election mandate here, lets stick it to em while we can! Those SOBs 1%-ers. At a certain point you have made enough money right? :)

It's tedious to copy the URL of the article that you are reading and know you're going to post on 285?

It takes less keystrokes to copy and paste the URL than it does to type out your post.

It's lazy to not search as to whether what someone has posted is BS, but not to cite the source you are basing your post on?
