The NRA was counting votes in the House this weekend and they don't believe a new Assault Weapons Ban will pass Congress this year. Personally I am surprised they are claiming victory so soon. They have made a lot of money since Newtown and this statement should slow the checks coming in. Of course sources close to the President say a new AWB still has a chance but I wonder what it will take to bribe Republicans in Congress. Entitlement reform? Or the old standby more pork per district.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
I first saw a version of this article this morning on 9news. When I went back to link it, it was nowhere to be found on their site. Weird. Anyway, some searching and I found one similar elsewhere:
Nice bipartisanship exhibited. The RINO's in New York rolled over for this one. I hope they get primaried.
And for New York, already a state with budget issues, making up new databases for rifle owners and increasing regulation of ammo sales is a budget breaker.
Canada finally gave up on their firearm registration after the costs went much higher than initial estimates.

Remington ought to move their NY factory to another state. I bet a state such as Texas or Colorado would grant them some pretty good tax incentives and still be able to provide skilled workers needed. Isn't the number of workers somewhere around 600 - 800?
I thought Remington MADE the Bushmaster Fred, and as far as Kimber goes, heck yea. My brother in law has the 1911 in .45acp and it's sweeeeeet. Little too rich for my blood though. I just got a Ruger p345 .45acp and I'm just waiting for my eight day wait period to be up.
On Topic: National legislation will take a bit, but states will still be able to rush regs through before then. NY just set the precedent.
