This is not a political statement. It is a list of facts.
I think we all know how often the ceiling in raised... that's not the point. the point is that our economy is not growing anymore... there is no internet or manufacturing boom to generate the revenue to cover our growing spending. At some point in time, the spending has to stop expanding does it not? What happens when we go from borrowing $.40 of every dollar spent to $.50, $.60...? The entitlement programs we can't cover now will be impossible then. At some point the madness has to stop and some president needs to speak to the public and explain the problem that will cause our eventual collapse.

This is not the first time that our economy hasn't been growing, but the debt ceiling was raised before nevertheless. What's the alternative? To let the nation default?
Do you think if Romney were president the Republicans would scoff at raising the debt ceiling?

Darn... There you go inserting FACTS into the discussion again... You know the rules. Anything pre-Obama doesn't count.
Irrelevant facts. I didn't like the debt increases under any president. They're all spending like drunken sailors.
Get past the partisan bickering and realize that the discussion is not about Obama, not Bush, not any one person... It's about government spending, which both parties are guilty of increasing.

We all know that the debt ceiling will be raised again. Discussing what would happen if it isn't raised is just a sideline exercise.
As I said before, I'd like to see slow progress being made towards reducing spending. I don't see it happening at all. Everyone's got their sacred cows, and they're convinced that the best burgers come from someone else's cow.

I almost hope that the GOTP is stupid enough to actually do it. When all of the expected and known consequences start falling down around people's heads, they will KNOW who to blame. And when 2014 comes, I think we'll remove the rest of the 'Baggers from the mix.

Not sure who this GOTP you're referring to is, but the Republicans will use the debt ceiling as leverage to get something they want.
That's politics.

We would not default if the debt ceiling isn't raised... there is more than enough revenue to service our debt.
