Wonder if this mother appreciates her gun?

A 14-year-old in Henry County, Georgia unintentionally shot and killed his 15-year-old brother early Saturday morning while playing with his mother’s gun, according to police. The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that charges may be brought against the teenager and his mother, who have not yet been named. Though the mother left the handgun unloaded, the brothers were apparently still able to use it.

It happened on "Gun Appreciation Day."

You can really come up with some real stupid comments. This is just another one. I seriously doubt that is a thought in her head right now. Most likely more concerned about her son, as she should be.

This is what happens when people that are suppose to be responsible are not with a gun or guns. Gun Appreciation day has nothing to due with this at all.

On the other hand, I'll bet she spends the REST OF HER LIFE thinking about what "Gun Appreciation Day" means to her....

Would not put money on that, she may or may not even know that it was National Gun Appreciation Day.

Just another statistic. No need to do anything to try and prevent things like this, right?

It's heartbreaking and will permenently damage the rest of both lives. Using it to make a political point is tasteless. No one is talking about banning handguns. Is that what you are advocating?i

New flash: people here use almost anything to make political points.

So we have a mother who had an unloaded handgun for protection and now her kid is dead because the gun was in the house. I have friends who lost loved ones after having been killed with guns in the house.

No I am not advocating banning handguns. I have no idea where you came up with that. I'm simply pointing out the damage guns do to families.

Her son is dead because she did not properly secure the gun and ammo, nothing more to it.

How do you know she didn't properly secure the gun and ammo?

Again, it is common sense. Had she had it properly secured, her son would not have been able to get it, thus nothing happens. Or is that to simple for you to understand. Maybe you do not know what properly secured means? If her sons were able to get thier hands on it without her knowledge and get the ammo also, then it was not PROPERLY SECURED.
