OK, you win, Hagel will be nominated and Obama will show once again he isn't good at picking capable people.

And to make it worse, now Team Obama is looking at picking Gov. Bill Ritter to be head of the Department of Energy. Such a failure, he couldn't be re-elected goverenor in a Blue State.

Once again President Obama chooses moderates who please no one rather than true liberals who would at least please his base. The Republicans will throw themselves down on the floor and drum their heels no matter who is submitted. They have been reduced to the level of petulant toddlers.

The GOP had their own motives for wanting Kerry confirmed as Secretary of State.....not the least of which is an open seat in Mass.

The real reason is Kerry is a long standing member of the Good Old Boys in the Senate club.

Which is why you heard a collective "Whoops!" from the entire Republican Party today when their grand-plan went down the tubes, when Brown announced he wasn't going to run. Oh, they'll put the best face on it that they can, but this obviously didn't work out the way they planned. They gave Kerry a "pass" because they figured it would be worth it to get him out of the Senate, and have a shot at putting Brown back in...
