BASIS FOR SECOND AMENDMENT SUPPORT

Sone good founder insights addressing gun control......should clarify theri intent and hopefully terminate the bogos issue of militias raised by some.

The Founders on GUN CONTROL

Thomas Jefferson: “The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms, is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government”. This has been proven over and over in history (Germany, USSR, and China – today) we must recall).

George Washington based on his experience for fighting for the independence and liberty of this country said: “A free people ought not only be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, including their own government”. For those who spilt hairs in conjunction with the wording in the Second Amendment……is there any doubt of the intention of our founders?

George Mason noted as the “Father of The Bill of Rights” : “To disarm the people is the best and most effective way to enslave them”.

These three quotes may be useful when we are debating the gun control bills……some may pass…..ALL will be challenged in the courts…….ALL basically are unconstitutional IMHO. The NRA is looking NOW for test cases to take imediately forward........the liberals are set up and these cases will in all probability be heard befor NOV 2014.........."In MY Cold Dead Hand"........

The Second Amendment is no more "absolute" than the First Amendment is.

ALL of these new gun-control laws ARE basically Constitutional, IMHO. NONE of them restrict your rights to own a gun...PERIOD. "Disarmed"?... "Comin' after yer guns!"?...

Too bad in the scramble to try to justify everything from 100-round drums to flame-throwers and bazookas, the NRA-types seem to overlook the first three words of the Amendment: A well regulated Militia... There's nothing "well-regulated" about letting every knuckle-dragging cretin have an AR-15 with a 30-round magazine, with no background checks...

And for everyone who thinks having that "superior firepower" is somehow going to be used to "take on the [so-called] 'tyranny' of da gub'mnt"..... All I can say is one drone-strike on a bunch of anti-gub'mnt militia-types running around in the woods is a laughable thought.

But y'all have fun with your empty outrage...

Of course Jefferson never made that quote. That is strictly fictitious, made up to try to deny the limits on the 2nd Amendment that the Founding Fathers intended.

And the quote by George Washington was altered to make it's meaning different than what he intended. What he actually said was quite different.
"A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined; to which end a uniform and well-digested plan is requisite; and their safety and interest require that they should promote such manufactories as tend to render them independent of others for essential, particularly military, supplies."

So your argument is based on lies and falsehoods.

Why did the Founding Fathers make the only crime specified in the Constitution is that of taking up arms against the government.

Gee...Altered quotes...Imagine my surprise.... I found a couple of those the other day...It's astonishing what goes around the Internet in the "right-wing echo-chamber" that NEVER HAPPENED.

I guess they should find better sources for their copy-and-paste stuff than FaceBook....

Time will tell......the cases will follow........Congress will pay in 2014. SIX Dem. Senators are not running 2014 as announced........time will tell.

You seem to be "protesting too much".....methinks.......I guess the point is made.
By over reacting you provide foundation for concern..... also to stir a bit......the ACLU announced last week a large investigation of the militarization of the USA police......we will also see where that goes.

AND to keep you up at night there is a significant move to cut FED- state-local taxpayer handouts to clerks three times as large as sequestered funding.......cut the funds and cut the power.

"Well regulated" in the 1790's doesn't mean what it does in 2013. But bravo for taking quotes out of historical context. Then it meant well equipped or maintained. A force that could help repel invaders or enemies internally

Semi-automatic muskets that would hold 100 balls at a time weren't thought of either....

If I want a definition of what "well-regulated militia" means, I won't get it from the NRA, the RMGO, or any other gun group.

Why are you claiming that it is "protesting too much" to point out that you are posting lies about our Founding Fathers to justify your irrational claims about the 2nd Amendment?
