If you can't trust the Secret Service with shotguns, why is Joe Biden allowed one?
Buckshot Biden riding shotgun on top of the Beast. :splat: Run! Hide!

It's my understanding that "The Beast" does have a diesel engine in it. The base platform is the Chevy Kodiak, which is a medium duty truck chassis that uses the DuraMax V8 diesel engine and an Allison transmission. The nickname kind of makes sense given the "Kodiak" base platform. I suppose they could have altered the power plant and the transmission for the limo and substituted a large gas motor, but given the weight of the thing, about 8 tons, a diesel engine makes a lot more sense. To get the torque and horsepower necessary to move that much weight out of a gasoline motor would tend to reduce the reliability of the engine itself, and that is not something I think anyone would be willing to do.FredHayek wrote: I found the story funny. More egg on the face of the Secret Service? You think they would use a diesel engine to lower the chance of fire.
