Romance of American Socialism REDUX

Well then, I have found LJ to be consistent about who she is, both professionally and personally... The only times I have seen contradictions is when certain conservatives have decided they know who she is, what she had accomplished, and what she believes better than LJ herself.

I find it amusing that the vultures would try to go back through my posts to find any sliver of information that they can use to attack me, when I make a point of venturing as little as possible.

I have, in fact, made 6-figures for several years now, and as I stated, I just did again.

I find it even more interesting that Arlen would suggest that he's retired but "doesn't get SS." That tells me one several possibilities...Either he is declining to take it (on personal grounds...[not likely]); or, he kept his income off-the-books for years, and therefore doesn't have a record of sufficient payments to collect anything [more likely]; or he worked in one of the situations where in lieu of SS, he paid into some pension-plan...

In any case, I stand by my verifiable statement that I made 6-figures last year, and for several previous years, and his ridiculous suggestion that I'm "unemployed" and "get welfare" is about as stupid as everything else he says... In any case, I already knew that I make a helluva lot more than him, which makes his crazy-a** charges all the more laughable...

Kind of on topic: Bloody hell, I hope you make a million next year. However, if that's the case, then leave the rest of those making the same or more alone. If you DO in fact make that much money, then you're paying a crapload in taxes. I've already gone through this talking about my Father (shouldn't, but I do) and the fact that he paid almost 90K in taxes at the end of '11. If I were to post ALL of his financial numbers, it would be a helluva lot more than what you've claimed to "prove," and it would be a disservice to him, because he has nor wants anything to do with this kind of argument. With that said, I have found that life is a lot less stressfull for myself if I go through life NOT loathing people that make a lot of money, or those that I could consider "rich." For one, they DO pay a lot in taxes. May not be as much as a person on welfare, leap and all sorts of other programs wants, but it's a lot and that's enough. They've paid their share. Better than those that don't pay their taxes at ALL, whether they're government employess or not, agreed? Now, my point after all of that is to say that I don't loathe or envy those that make more than me, because if I ever DO hit the big time and find myself in that same position, I wouldn't want people like me pointing their finger and wanting to lynch my @$$. Thank you.

Edit: And HOWEVER Arlen is retired, good for him! At least he doesn't have to wade through all the crap we now face in our society, issues I might add, that have never been faced by our kind before. I think he just see's chinks in the armor, and I feel that I have noticed the same before as well. Course, we aren't all a basket of roses now are we?

And as far as people on SS, they had paid into that system for most of their lives to be able to collect off of it. The problem with it coming up short lately is the simple fact that Democraps and Republibit**** tapped into the money to use for their own selfish ends back in the day. Now the flippin' pot is empty, and the rest of us need to pull up the slack in the rope. Fine. I stated in another thread weeks ago that there are only a few groups that I give a pass: 1.) Senior citizens 2.) Veterans (includes injured) 3.) People that are so disabled that they can't walk or wipe their own arse. That's it, otherwise, get yer carcass off the couch and do something to contribute.

Jekyll....right on !!! We will attempt to kill Medicaid...few paid into this farce......we on medicare paid up front......The House will stop most of the Socialist moves dead in their tracks. Letters to Congressmen are needed and our lobying groups are fully engaged.
Seniors, vets and Second Amendment advocates VOTE..........Huhhhh.....VOTE.

2014 we will take back the CO legislature and reverse most of this silliness..... TABOR may stop much of this well before then. Gun laws basically cannot be enforced.....especially background checks for sales between individuals and magazine sizes......totally unenforcable......the first DA that tries to prosecute will be voted out I can predict......same applies to sheriffs......they work for the citizens.

I have been away from the forums and am very surprised that LJ has continued the income discussion. She seems to think that "retirement" is some sort of official, paperwork, filed document sort of notification to the government of one's retirement.

Please let me clear this up for her. We have retired from business (we have not retired from paying income and social security taxes). We sold our interests to our children in Nashville but they have retained me (with my reluctance) as a consultant. This consulting status has necessitated that I establish an office (a branch office) in Boulder, to which I commute two or three times per week. As soon as this contractual obligation is fulfilled we shall be permanent residents of Jackson, WY (not that Conifer is not a pleasant location). Retirement is a rearrangement and sometimes not readily recognizable.

LJ's presentation of her understanding of retirement as participation in some sort of managed program (SS or pension plan), plus her envy of wealth, convinces me that she is not self employed, but rather is at the lowest end of the income spectrum.

I would suspect that Arlen is a tax-cheat who hasn't declared income for years, and therefore hasn't contributed enough to qualify for SS payments; (which would explain why he's obsessed with worrying about the "leeches on the receiving end" of benefits that he hypocritically never paid for). I would further suspect that Arlen probably has health problems related to overuse of cheap Mexican E.D. meds bought over the internet. I would further suspect that Arlen loves to make idiotic, ridiculous assumptions about other people's lives, and figures that prefacing it with "I would suspect...." he gets a free-pass on the ToS rules.

...And of course, I suspect that Arlen is full-of-sh*t if he actually thinks my 6-figure AGI is a misrepresentation and that I'm "at the bottom of the income spectrum."

:rofllol

I suspect that Arlin may have retired early and is not yet eligible for Social Security.
