You didn't help, but you did blow right past my first comment on out of state guns.

Any facts or figures that show where those guns came from (in state or out of state) that were used in the increased crimes after 1998?
No?
Put away those silly facts and figures if they do not include data about the origins of the guns used in those crimes. The topic here is gun laws for the state of Mass.

Afraid they don't care about the NRA threats?

And no one's Second Amendment rights are being infringed. Repeating it over and over again does not make it so.

But you keep checking those Rasmussen, Dick Morris, Karl Rove and FauxNews polls... They worked so well for you last time...

Here...Try this: Eight Reasons Polls Showing Obama Winning Are Dead Wrong  That should keep your spirits up as we head toward 2014...and 2016...

I think we've seen our last GOP president in our lifetime... And the more of the "old, angry white guys" that die off, the more even the gerrymandered "safe" districts will start losing their right-wing safety. The Party of Selfish is fading fast.

You answered a question with a question LJ. Why do you figure those four Democrat Senators voted against the bill? Was it due to their "unselfish" approach to politics? Come on now....please answer me that one.

I wonder if you can actually answer a question with out all your name calling. What grade are you in anyway?

You may be right about the last GOP president given the voting block that loves Democrat presidents. The next question ought to be, how long can the United States AFFORD to exist with Democrats running the country? If California is a litmus test for what it looks like when Democrats run everything then we are in very deep doo doo.

Philadelphia, another Dem stronghold close to bankruptcy, is meeting with Wall Street types to buy city assets. Another Dem stronghold where Romney didn't get a single vote in many precincts.

But back on topic, if 95% of people want background checks, let the states decide.

I don't give a flying F where the guns came from... it just proves the point that oppressive gun control laws doesn't stop criminals from getting guns... in Massachusetts or anywhere else... blow that past yourself.

Calm down man.
So you think it doesn't matter if the guns came from neighboring states that have less strict gun laws? Couldn't Federal gun laws have minimized the number of those crimes that used out of state guns? Couldn't stricter gun laws in those neighboring states have minimized the number of crimes committed by out of state guns?

Since you have no proof where the guns came from, you can not conclude that the gun laws of Mass alone had anything to do with crime in Mass.

You have no proof what guns were used in what crimes that added to those statistics. The only way to prove you theory would be to outlaw private possession of guns altogether... you wouldn't want that would you?

And neither do you. So, the current or past gun laws in Mass have no reflection on the graphs you posted as there is no way to determine the origins of the guns that were used.

Whereas, a recent article in the Globe revealed that Mass has the 3rd highest rate of out-of-state guns found at crimes scenes in the nation.

Tell the FBI that. And you didn't answer my query "The only way to prove you theory would be to outlaw private possession of guns altogether... you wouldn't want that would you?" ANd while you're at it... post a link to the Globe article... I want to see their sources.

And this is a cyclic argument... unless all gun ownership is outlawed... you have no way to prove your point.

Well if all states had the same gun laws (federal regs) and it were possible to record the State of Origin of the guns used during a crime that would certainly help. But that is not ever gonna happen is it?

No state — no matter how tough the laws — is protected from firearms violence when guns are brought in from other states.

Many guns found in Massachusetts travel only a short distance: 133 crime guns were traced to New Hampshire in 2011, and 79 to Maine, according to the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Those states alone accounted for nearly one-third of the 669 crime guns traced to states outside of Massachusetts.

I am not agianst private gun ownership or against a persons right to carry one. I have never said either of those things. My point has been that you can not correlate any states gun laws with the recorded amount of armed crime in that state without knowing where the guns originated. Yes it is a cyclic argument and I think we are finished with it. I prolly won't be able to respond until early/mid evening anyway. TTFN

Guns travel across state borders? Who knew? This is just as naive as thinking national laws will prevent criminals from getting guns. How many tons of drugs are imported into this country every day?
