If the question was an honest one "Are you ok with your tuition being raised in order to pay for sex change operations"? My guess is that it would be a resounding NO. And making this about preventing suicide is a huge stretch imo. Young people have been killing themselves for many more reasons than they don't like what sex they were born with. But if it just saves one, right?homeagain wrote:

Does that mean it makes sense?homeagain wrote: AHEM.....it appears that MANY other universities offer this program, to name a few....CORNELL, STANFORD,HARVARD and here in
Colorado CU and CSU.....Many Univ. of Calf. sites offer this also.....what's your point?.....it appears they are just falling in line with
the rest of the collegiate platform.
Looking at the stats for SUICIDE within the young adult/teenage community......YES, it does. IF the students do NOT have problem
with this addition to their health care, WHY do you? It would be interesting to see if a polling has been done....do you AGREE or
DISAGREE with the additional provision to your health care?
PROGRESSIVE management/institutions understand the physiological and psychological impacts of this issue....and IF the demand was
NOT present, they would NOT be addressing it.JMO

“The addition of sexual reassignment surgery with a $50,000 cap makes Duke’s student health care plan one of the most, if not the most, transgender-inclusive plans in the country,”
The official plan is in-line with a Student Government Resolution passed last March that called upon the school to cover sex change operations. The school previously covered mental health care, hormone therapy and breast augmentation and reduction surgery to students who wished to change their gender.
There are 37 universities in America that cover sex change operations, according to TransgenderLaw.org. Emory University is the only other college in the Southeast, besides Duke, to offer sexual reassignment surgery to students.

The free market has choice.
If you don't like it ---- don't go to Duke......
I doubt Pepperdine, Creighton, or Baylor (just to name a few) offer those perks.
