CB, are you sure the UCMJ states that treason is only in a time of war? Perhaps you are thinking of the max penalties that can be awarded?

So selling out your country in a police action isn't a crime? No wonder Jane Fonda and John Kerry didn't serve time.

Treason is not listed as a crime in the UCMJ...it is part of the Article that covers Espionage.

Treason is listed in the U.S. Constitution and that is where I took the description from. And yes, it does specifically say "during time of war".

Did you know that the Rosenbergs were not convicted of Treason? They were convicted of Espionage.

The max penalties for both crimes are death. Espionage is death only during time of war.
