That the top three threads on American Independence day on this forum ---- just weeks after the revealing of massive citizen spying programs and in the middle of massive govt take overs of industry/economy and taxation hovering at 50% ---- are about Egypt.

My sense is that from a media perspective, these foreign conflicts are good for our US govt today. They got folks that may have spent some time today talking about the irony of our situation as American Citizens pretending, instead focusing on what is going on in Egypt actually has more to do with our lives than our current domestic messes.

There is not even a thread talking about how Americans are more worked up when fireworks get cancelled than when freedoms get cancelled.

Anyone else notice that people can protest in a country and it can result in the president getting ousted....they must have really not liked their president....it shows how universally accepted our president really is, despite all the rhetoric to the opposite.

Don't forget to celebrate your independence from that tyrannical British govt today. Appreciate that you don't have to deal with a top heavy govt force making most of the decisions in your life the way they did 225+ years ago.

Well, America doesn't really have a tradition of replacing the President when they tire of him, like Great Britain or Italy do.

Personally I find takeovers initiated by peaceful demonstrations fascinating, like the velvet revolution, the fall of the berlin wall. Even when that drunk Boris Yeltsin hoped on a tank in Moscow.

The one for Colorado is at 10am Today at the State Capitol...

Perhaps some are actually showing up to complain about it instead of taking shots in chatrooms. But, if you actually cared, you'd already know that.

The "One" for Colorado?

I mentioned tyranical govt. and excessive taxation. Loosing privacy is only 1/10000% of our issues...cute though on so many levels....the "One"....like there is one issue, or one protest. But I get it, you love govt and organization in any form for any purpose, so of course you would think there is one way to go to the one protest that is acceptable to your world.

If I actually cared?

Um, what are you talking about? Do you really get the impression that I don't care about the things I write. I guess for you to think I care like you I would have to explain myself a lot less and stop answering questions when they are asked of me....like you.

Perhaps some are actually showing up to complain about it instead of taking shots in chatrooms.

Did LJ actually write that and not think that it would make her the biggest hypocrite around? The volume of what you have complained about on this site would exceed the volume of most other posters period? I will be glad to give you a free mirror. I will leave it my 285 near your intersection with it.

My issue with you and many others, LJ, is that you are so simplistic and lacking in broad thought that there is often only one way to do things in your mind. And once you find that one way, you are willing to using any method, including force, to get your way.

Since this is supposed to be a govt by the people, what the heck is wrong complaining to the people. Since a few people don't really have influence, as you know, look at how little influence you have, I am trying peacefully to convince people to take more pride in their liberties. I know from your perspective I am supposed to get someone else to force them to do my bidding, but that is just not my way, it is yours.

If I actually cared. Who the heck are you?

If you cared about freedoms, people, jobs and rights, you would stop posting your garbage or occasionally defend it well.
