embassies will close in response to "a specific threat against a U.S. embassy or consulate," according to a senior U.S. official, who called it a "concerted effort" to target an embassy or consulate in a Muslim country.
"We just don't know which one," the official told ABC News.
"There could be other targets, not just embassies," another U.S. official said. The threat is considered to be throughout the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia.
I think Obama needs to go over there and make another speech.

It also says to the enemy that we've become too weak to defend our embassies and if you do attack us, we'll make empty threats to find justice.

Given our new reputation for being weak and inept, I fully agree with closing these embassies... PERMANENTLY. If we can't defend them now, we won't be able to defend them a month from now.
My point was the FACT that Obama used Bin Laden's death in most of his campaign speeches along with AQ being decimated . He also draws red lines with water colors. And when he said the terrorists who killed our people in Benghazi would be hunted down, that didn't really mean much either (but those people get interviewed by reporters).

Weak and inept? I thought you hawks were loving the fact that the drones were picking the terrorists off from afar without getting our troops in the line of fire. (Oh that was until one bad guy who once had US citizenship was blown up with his kid)
I would agree also with closing embassies in countries that don't have the spine to stand up to their citizens that are terrorists. If they are not going to stand with us then should we be there? This is our historical imperialistic attitude coming back to bite us in the ass.

Yes, weak and inept sums it up pretty well. Inept because this administration decided it was a good idea to put our people in a place that wasn't protected by our people, a place with an unstable government with enemies of the US all around, calls for security ignored (even after the Brits left and a hole was blown in the consulate wall) and the facts on the ground were much different than the story told to voters.
Then after our people were killed and zero help was sent, another empty threat of "we're going to bring these people to justice". Meanwhile the FBI doesn't show up for a few weeks after CNN manages to rumage through the crime scene. That is weak... that is inept. So now that the terrorists know we are easy targets and a response is not likely, there really is no alternative than to close every embassy in every country that Obama was supposedly going to reset our relations with since cowboy Bush made them not like us.
In my opinion, it's much more important to be respected and even feared, than it is to be liked by these people who would love to see us all dead anyway.
