Great points PS. Right now the press is hot to tell us how horrible assault rifles are. They will even add them to stories of shootings with limited proof. Actual reality is that those weapons are rarely used in shootings. Another big fact that doesn't suit their agenda? That a good percentage of US gun deaths are suicide. Taking the guns away would do little to reduce that.

I guess archer really didn't want to discuss the topic of the left and the media falsifying a narrative for political gain after all . . . imagine that.

Yep.....this pretty much shut down any interest I had in actually discussing the topic

But I see, 2 pages later, you are actually desiring to discuss the topic raised rather than comment on your perceptions of another's character. Better late than never I always say.
You can shut down a topic faster than anyone out there I am aware of.

archer wrote: To get back to the actual topic of this thread....this seems a lot like another he said/she said crime novel. I will be curious what proof is offered in this book, or is it mostly circumstantial evidence. Whatever, it was an horrific crime and deserved all the media attention it got at the time. If it was not exactly as depicted by the media at the time...that is less important than the dialog it started about the struggles of gays in our society.

The BOLDED is the "take away" from this topic......I found it astonishing that "The advocate"
would be the "leader" in bringing this to light and that the author himself is gay.....THAT takes
a HUGE AMOUNT of courage and strength.....(that is why I posted the previous piece from a
conservative source)......COURAGE FEW individuals have.....JMO
So what you are in essence saying home is that yes, the ends justify any and all means used to achieve them. The benefit to the society in the advancement of homosexual rights, and the side benefit of attacking the religious beliefs of a substantial segment of the Union's inhabitants, trumps accurately portraying Shephard's murder for what it was. That is what archer is trying to tell us here when she attempts to deflect from creating a fairy tale surrounding a brutal murder to point to the good that resulted from deliberately suppressing the truth in favor of repeating a lie often enough that it took on the veil of truth.

That post is so full of inaccuracies it's laughable. How nice of you first to tell home what she/he is in essence saying, then claim to know what I am trying to tell you. Speak for yourself PrintSmith, not for me.....

Wrong. If the media is the reason for the dialog... then the media needs to be correct in their facts.
PS...I believe you ATTEMPTED to put words into play I did NOT say.....since I have a BIL
that "came out" in a very late stage of his life,I have witnessed FIRST HAND the struggle and
adversity of living a lie and not being true to oneself......(and for that individual to be a "christian"
and a devote church attendee, it was even MORE DIFFICULT to justify and FINALLY ACCEPT.)
MY intent was to both applaud and acknowledge the amount of courage that it took to bring
this front and center and to CREATE A DIALOGUE.....where, before Shepard. there was NO
platform to do so......the details that have been brought forward in the book/piece are Unsettling and create ANOTHER dialogue about media manipulation......(which is so pervasive in our everyday living experience.)......MEDIA MANIPULATION in ALL forms that do nothing to truly
educate/inform us (collectively) so that we can make the BEST POSSIBLE choices......
I KNOW there have been parallels drawn ( in the media) about Zimmerman/Martin manipulation.
Here's what I do know......Zimmerman's TRUE nature is now coming to the forefront and it
looks pretty "scary" from where I sit.
What I do NOT know is what Shepard's PARENTS will do when this firestorm truly hits.....I
feel THEIR input is part of this equation too......because they KNOW FULL WELL how Wyoming's
mindset was back then.
MEDIA MANIPULATION in ALL forms that do nothing to truly
educate/inform us (collectively) so that we can make the BEST POSSIBLE choices......
[snip]
Explain that to Archer.
