I am not sure if I get a vote here or not. I have a medical condition and am living with my niece until I do better and go back home to Conifer. That being said I keep up with Park County and what happens here. If I live here long enough, more than likely this will be residence for voting.
I would vote no because the fire department hoodwinked taxpayers last time into giving them an increase when they said that they weren't able to collect on fees for ambulance services which turned out to be an outright lie as I recollect. Can't trust anything that Board of Directors says or does, two of them realtors, who are more interested in peddling their business. They have to go and get someone who represents the people.
I am inclined to think like Commissioner Brazzell and not raise taxes.
I don't understand why they need an increase to deal with inflation. As inflation increases how much we have to spend on our weekly budget, they get more money. Example, if last year you spent $100 on groceries, the PCFD's get 1% of that. $1. If you are spending $200 for groceries this year, PCFD now gets 2% of that, $2.
Sales taxes have automatic inflation increases built into them.

Including Hartsel and Platte Canyon?
I would be ok with an 1 cent tax increase but I doubt that is what they requesting as it would not raise much money. I think they want a 1% increase which is a heck of a lot more than 1 cent unless the purchase is under a dollar.
A sales tax increase in Park County would raise more money from tourists than it would impact locals. Most of us go over to Jeffco to shop as there is no grocery store here. I've been arguing for this for years.
edited to add: It would affect large purchases such as automobiles as they collect based on your residence.
Monkey....you may well be correct and I am inclined to feel with good date you could have a solid position. I am a MASSIVE believer in Murphy's LAW and All the collieries.
I am also a pessimist by the definition that an optimist is a pessimist with no grip on reality.
No offence intended.
