THAT is the Democratic strategy.... past, present, and future.
You left out the part where the Gubment confiscates the wealth of the few and the middle class so there is money to throw away.
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.
"Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the Government take care of him; better take a closer look at the American Indian." - Henry Ford
Corruptissima re publica plurimae leges; When the Republic is at its most corrupt the laws are most numerous. - Publius Cornelius Tacitus
"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
I thought poverty was needed for others to be rich and do well?
Otherwise everyone would be average and likely have little hope. Everyone who feels they are doing better than average, by definition needs there to be someone who is doing less than average.
Not only this, we create people faster than we create wealth, this means that on average, people will have less and less. Which also means it will take less to be above average.
But really bob, why did you cut the first few seconds out where the baby stole the money from the neighbor? This will help folks understand why it is so easy to give away.
That article, to me, represents why I am so opposed to institutionalized federal individual welfare programs and have become convinced that our neighbors in need would be much better served if those tax dollars were kept local instead of being sent to the level of government which is furthest removed and least representative of the people.
Federal solutions are necessarily one size fits none instead of crafted to serve the best interests of the people they are designed to help. Our Union is too large, too diverse in its composition, for a "universal" solution to be effective at anything other than institutionalizing generational dependence on those programs. The "War on Poverty" launched by LBJ has been, and continues to be, an utter and complete failure for precisely that reason. The number of people living in poverty today is no different than it was when the "War" was commenced despite literally trillions of dollars worth of treasure that has been appropriated from the citizens of the States to try and relieve the suffering. It is well past time to admit that the programs are a complete and utter failure at achieving the goal they were enacted to achieve and to put an end to the waste rather than continue to extract more treasure from the populace to throw away at what can only be described as a futile exercise.
It is time for Washington to admit that their top down solution will never be effective at solving the problem and to return to the States the responsibility for caring for the individual welfare of their citizens that was usurped by the federal government so many years ago.

I agree, but I don't envision our greedy government giving up any of its power even with some changes made in the 2014 and 2016 elections.
