Debate is NOT what is taking place here, what IS taking place is trash talk and partisan jockeying....the same sentiment repeated endless by several posters.

As and INDY, I am NOT thrilled with either party....would love to see a progressive third party

It takes two willing participants to debate HA... I'll take on anybody here without a single nasty comment.... but I've made that offer so many times without a taker that it's become meaningless to even try... but the offer is always there. So in lieu of an actual debate, I'll continue to post my frustrations (unchallenged) with this inept administration and lying president.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Yes it does, and cartoons, insults, and photos are not debate Rick. Neither is baiting or spamming the forum on a daily basis with threads about the same old stuff until you get an angry response. You may want debate, but your cohorts obviously do not .

I think the best threads are ones in which the conversation takes fun and interesting turns with pictures and unusual ideas/unique viewpoints and goes off-topic! We don't need more forums (we're actually trying to pare down and organize what we have, have been eliminating ones that are less active, merging them into other related ones), we just need to better use what we have.

I've seen this argument several times over the short lifetime of just this board and I'm sure it's not a new problem: at some point conservatives hate how it turns into a "liberal place" (like what happened right after Obama was re-elected) and the next time it's the opposite complaint. If it feels like there's imbalance, it's merely because we don't have enough activity happening from one side versus another, and that's indicative of the larger political climate, the ebb and flow of users coming and going with their busy lives, etc. This forum in particular, being the most active of the board, can throw everything else off-balance as well, but remember that there are many more forums and topics on this board in which to participate! Every year several of us have a blast with the Pick 3 Contest in the Sports Field, and I will never stop being a movie junkie posting gossip and reviews. I haven't seen much posted lately about outdoor activities, and I'm sure that none of you are skipping the outdoor hiking, skiing, fishing, etc - toss some pictures up and tell us how your last trip went! Have y'all seen Walter's thread about his trip to Prague? There's some really cool stuff there - he's very observant. Heard a good joke lately?

I've always said the members make this board. You guys decide the topics, you make the conversations, and you create the content - you are in control. If you want it "more liberal" or "more conservative", then I challenge you to start more threads, and engage in more discussion! If you want it more light-hearted and humorous, don't wait for someone else to put something in and lament that it's gotten boring and stale, do it yourself! :) I'm sorry that I haven't been around much lately, I'm hoping that will change soon and I can get back to having more fun here too; I'm missing being more involved in conversations with you all. That's the best part of my day!

:sarcasm: Uh... Are you suggesting we all have a freedom of choice and can post what ever and where ever we want?! I'm askered from that! I wanna come back to the same site and attempt to belittle the same users with my emotional responses to factual posts, people posting facts with references and links must yield to my emotional responses. If they don't they're going to hurt my feelings (because I don't have any facts or references to back up my positions).

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

:sarcasm: If you're calling me an asshole I'll concede to your scientific evidence while confessing that there is a long line of folks in front of you waiting to say it to my face (most lack the spine to actually do so in person)! Go ahead and say it, I've been called much worse (sometimes I even had it coming).

What an odd post. Logic is shot down on both sides frequently and replaced with talks of laws and goals. Success and failure of all types of forced programs and policies. People just seem to debate how to control or discipline other peoples' lives.

Though logic is particularly void here, it is excessively so from the left side of the spectrum. There is rarely a train of thought, only a policy that needs to be enforced for the good of all. This is also typically true of the right, but the right is ever so slightly more on the side of at least marketing for free will, again, even if it is just a ad campaign.

To argue for a new forum to get someone out so logic can be discussed here is almost laughable. This is the place where people come to debate who is going to make everyone's decisions and how.....not why.....that is beyond most posters and most people in society in general.
