President Obama is striking a dangerous balance. Starting today, he must simultaneously refocus Americans on the potential benefits of Obamacare without shredding his credibility further by minimizing its flaws.

That dilemma had White House officials twisted in knots Monday. On one hand, they acknowledged that the cornerstone federal website is not working as smoothly as it should. But you could hardly hear the disclaimer over the din of spin, as the White House launched an aggressive "offensive" from a defensive crouch.

"Healthcare.gov met our self-imposed November 30th deadline and even as we continue to make improvements to the website, we'll also remind the public about how the Affordable Care Act is already making a positive difference in the lives of millions of Americans today," said Josh Earnest, a White House spokesman. "The benefits of these consumer protections will only accumulate in the weeks and months ahead."...

"Why millennials will come around on Obamacare
BY RYAN COOPER
December 5 at 11:53 am
The major push from the anti-Obamacare forces right now is to predict with absolute certainty that millennials will never enroll in the numbers necessary to make the law work over time. Charles Krauthammer, Jeff Singer of the Cato Institute, and Ed Morrissey all agree: Obamacare is a “bad deal” for the young, and without them the system will collapse in a premium death spiral.
Meanwhile, many foes of the law are chanting in unison about a poll that shows “young invincibles” aren’t sold on Obamacare yet: over half of 18- to 29-year-olds disapprove of the law, and say it will raise their healthcare costs.
But take it from me, your Senior Plum Line Reckless and Irresponsible Youth Correspondent: young people will eventually come around on Obamacare. Here are six reasons why.
1. "...

Or you can face facts.

"Low-Information Leadership
The president’s problem right now is that people think he’s smart. They think he’s in command, aware of pitfalls and complexities. That’s his reputation: He’s risen far on his brains. They think he is sophisticated.

That is his problem in the health insurance debacle.

* * *
People have seen their prices go up, their choices narrow. They have lost coverage. They have lost the comfort of keeping the doctor who knows them and knows they tend to downplay problems and not complain of pain, and so doing more tests might be in order, or tend to be hypochondriacal and probably don’t need an echocardiogram, or at least not a third one this year.

At the very least people have been inconvenienced; at the most they’ve been made more anxious in an already anxious world. In a month, at the worst they may be on a gurney in an ER not knowing the answer to the question “Do you have insurance?” and hoping they can get into an exam room before somebody runs the number on the little green plastic card they keep in the back of their wallet.

Everyone understands in their own rough way that ObamaCare is a big mess. And that it’s not the website, it’s the law itself. They have seen systems crash. In the past 20 years they’ve seen their own computers crash. They know systems and computers get fixed.

But they understand a conceptual botch when they see one. "...

For every point, there is a counter-point....THE PATRIOT ACT was thought to be a solution after
9/11.....Let's solve the "make America SAFE" problem.....look what a debacle that has brought
forth......now, they are going back to "fine tune"/amend/revise/CHANGE the thought process.

It is the SAME for this "problem"......throw a bucketful of solutions at it......see what sticks,
discard the rest.....life is "messy", RARELY do things go smoothly.....look no further than the
"safe solution" called the PATRIOT ACT....observe the trajectory of THAT little debacle...

Well I think you need to look for a historical precident to make an analogy. The Patriot act didn't hit millions of people in the pocketbook or take away one of their most important choices. The ACA never had to be a complete remake of the health care system... it could have been tweeked over time in an intelligent way instead of throwing 1/6 of the economy against the wall just to see what sticks.

But if they made ACA a simple upgrade, it wouldn't have required thousands of navigators and unqualified software companies to be hired.
ACA is also a jobs program, and a way to sneak thousands more regulations onto the books.

It's also a great way to redistribute wealth from the middle class to the poor and the rich will end up getting the best care without waiting in line.

Unless you have read the complete bill (I have), you have no idea what kinds of new regulations are going to be hitting in the future. Everything needed to accomplish a single-payer, government run health care system is in place in that bill, and most of the rules and regulations can be launched at the whim of HHS.

So they can just sit on a lot of the portions of the bill, and throw them out when they think that it would be politically advantageous.

Mark my words.

Unless of course the American public doesn't want single payer... then they will vote accordingly. I'm thinking many more doctors will be running from a single payer system if they get paid like they do with Medicare... this shortage will cause long wait times, subpar care, and pissed off people. Some guy on MSNBC was saying that there won't be lines because doctors are becoming more efficient. I don't buy that.

More efficient? My GP lost his job because he was taking too much time with patients. Wouldn't want your doctor to have enough time to properly diagnose your condition.
