Maker of Newtown Gun Can't Find Buyer

An effort to sell the Freedom Group, maker of the Bushmaster rifle used in the Newtown Elementary School shooting massacre in Connecticut, has stalled, the New York Times reports. Days after the shootings, the Cerberus Capital Management investment firm put Freedom up for sale, acknowledging the furor that had ensnared the firearm industry. The company has been consistently profitable over the last 12 months, reporting $31.2 million in net income for its third quarter this year. The shares of other gun manufacturers have recovered from a brief but steep dip following the shooting last year.

Gee...Your chance to "own a company that's a piece-of-history"....

I should think that would be something like buying the company that made the Zyklon-B canisters....

Nice troll but I digress.

Deeper into the article it states

Cerberus and its advisers at the investment bank Lazard have struggled with an auction process that has not yielded any acceptable bids so far, this person said. A number of potential buyers, ranging from leveraged buyout firms to fellow gun makers, have expressed interest. These would-be bidders ran into trouble for different reasons, including an inability to secure adequate financing.

It looks to me like they are asking too much for the company.

Freedom Arms bought up a bunch of big and little gun manufacturers and might have made the company too large to buy. Might sell better split up. Plus a lot of the companies they own have seen dips in quality under FA. New smaller manufacturers are more popular.

Such a shame that the public pension for the California State Teachers Retirement System is invested in this company.

If you ever purchased Bayer aspirin, then you have contributed to one of the companies that owned IG Farben. Of course, you know what IG Farben made?

So... what's your point tool?

You're shooting big holes in the relevancy of her giddy post that .0000001% of the population cares about.
