This doesn't add up for me.

I'm not a real expert here - but I do know there's a large number of sailors on a carrier that wear radiation detection devices (same devices your x-ray tech wears at the hospital) ---- which alerts the wearer to large exposure levels. (those sailors are nuclear power techs - who are pretty well versed in nuclear power plant issues)

I think their devices would have warned them in the event that they were exposed to excessive levels through normal bathing and drinking water.

I think there might have been some excessive exposure --- but not from the stuff this red-tie dude is talking about.

I agree [DISABILITY DENIED!]

Bailey Bud, those devices are TLD's for short. They do not warn of anything. They have to be taken up to the Nuc Lab for reading. It was a monthly reading that was required. Sooner if something had happened. I wore one, but I was not a Nuclear type. I was non nuclear engineering. So working in main spaces etc, it was required of me and my personnel. Again though unless something happened or unless it was suspected that one was in radiation, then it would be a normal monthly reading. If it was suspected that the ship was around radiation then they done the zuit suits and bring out the meters for readings.

I may be wrong, but the USS Reagan is a nuclear powered ship. It would seem reasonable that radiation detection equipment would be common on this ship. There may be a command problem here.

Same for special weapons handling and security.

You guys are so F-ing nieve... Do you really think the military cares about the health of soldiers? What in the history of the world makes you think that?

Corporations don't care about its employees either and the only reason work places IN AMERICA are somewhat safe is because 1) they are regulated, and 2) You can sue them in court - Oh I forgot, you can't sue your employer in court in Colorado for an injury anymore- We lost that, now you get a max of 160k, and you have to be paralised to get that...We lost one of the pillars of democracy, the right to have your day in court because they bought the legistlation, and because retards like you put corporate interests ahead of peoples interests.. Anybody who wants tort reform..Is #1, incredibly stupid, and IS A F-ING TRAITOR!

WHY WOULD WE GIVE UP ANY OF OUR PRECIOUS RIGHTS!

Sailors don't have rights, they can be sent off to die for no reason...Duh huh

If you don't like it, don't be stupid enough to sign up

Arlen, we have radiation detection equipment onboard. Even the non nuc ships have it. But there is none of that equipment that is permanently mounted around the outside of the ships. Most of it is handheld, and when the ship goes into a certain condition of readiness or when the ships go into an area of suspect then the gear comes out. It is test quarterly, training is held monthly, we did the NBC warfare training quarterly, I served on three of these Nuc carriers. I also did the NBC training as part of the Damage Control Training Team. Now those individuals that worked and stood watches down in the engineering spaces and or worked around the nuc stuff, we wore TLD's, they would measure the amount of radiation that one gets from being around the stuff on a normal basis. Again, if the ship was in a suspect area then we would pull out different gear.

You are the most stupid, ignorant, clueless, dumbass in the world. Why don't you just shut the hell, you don't have a damn clue what you are even talking about. They only people that do sign up for the military, have to be pretty damn smart and on top of things, that's why you could never join, you could never pass the entrance exam or the physical test.

Youre only response is a childish personal attack? lol

People who can't make it in the real world, join the military- Why would a free man, and independant thinking human being join the military? Our military is full of rednecks from fly over states, guys with no other options in life....Everyone in the military is from Oklahoma, Mississippi, Arkansas, Colorado, Montana..etc etc etc.. You never see any soldiers from New York city, Chicago, or Los Angeles- Most of them have southern (right to work for less states) accents.

Tell me what you acomplished with your life NavyCop? You did'nt make the world a better place, you made it worse, and you should be ashamed of yourself, and obviously you are or what I say wouldn't bother you this much-

BREAKING SCIENCE NEWS! VL has been added to the eleMENTAL table. He is found near osmium and iridium and is clearly the densest element in the universe. Congrats VL on a new low.

The silent majority will be silent no more.
