Russian authorities said on Thursday that security forces had been put on combat alert in the southern Stavropol region after the discovery of six bodies with gunshot wounds in four different cars, three of which were rigged with explosives.
Only one of the bombs went off and no one was hurt. But the killings are further heightening security concerns ahead of the Winter Olympics in Sochi, which also lies near the Caucasus region, where an Islamic insurgency is simmering.
Seems like these folks have been planning things for a long while. Keep security forces busy and off guard all around the Caucasus. The winter Olympics is going to be one heck of a show.
Many Putin opponents would love to embarrass him on a worldwide stage.
Putin wanted attention by buying the Winter Olympics but it might not be the kind he is seeking.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
I would think the terrorists would not be giving security forces a heads up if they really planned on attacking the Olympics... they lose the element of surprise and force extra security. I'm sure these Russians are much more competent in reacting to and preparing for bigger attacks than we were in Benghazi.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

This is not a heads up, this is a diversionary tactic to keep them busy, to make them suspect of everything, to keep them on edge. Will it work ? I don't know but I'm sure the terrorist think so.

Well this may be all the terrorists are capable of at this point and may just be satisfied with creating a cloud of fear that will in itself, disrupt the games in some way.

LOL. I was recently laughing at barracks lawyers on the theater shooting thread. I will now add barracks intel analysts. J/K everything is fair game here.
Putin will suppress Muslims ruthlessly. Is that enough when they consider everyone a target and are willing to die? I sure do not know.
From my understanding...there is a revenge issue. The "Black Widow" is on their radar big time.
She happens to have a brother that was killed (not sure by whom) and she is avenging his death.
I believe they are SERIOUS and intend to exact as much damage as possible....when someone/
thing is THAT focused....they WILL succeed. JMO

The black widow is not a particular individual as you reference above.
Ibragimova is one of as many as four “black widows” — the term given to the wives of dead terrorists — who being sought by security officials, NBC News reported.
