Phone? What phone? Oh yeah it is in the car, it rang once and scared the crap out of me. It was a telemarketer, or a reminder to pay my bill or some such nonsense.

I rarely use my Iphone for calls. I only take it out of the house if I'm going to be gone for the whole day.
I have the requisite amount of tablets, which I use for entertainment. Two Kindles are used as internet radios (since AM reception stinks up here) and another Kindle goes along for travel. My Ipad usually stays home, too large for travel.
Interesting little story. In November when I was in the Czech Republic, I spent one night in Kalek about 50 miles northwest of Prague, a very little town, no internet access except by a cell style modem.
I was visiting Zdenek Franc and his wife and we bridged the language barrier by showing pictures, They had pictures on their computer and albums, we had pictures on our phones and tablets.
Without that technology it would have been a very different evening. Two couples from different cultures were connecting and socializing through pictures, delivered up by modern technology.

I'll take it.
The point is you were interacting with them.
In this case yes. But I really don't have a problem with the isolated nature of phones and other devises. The world is changing. So what? Two hundred years from now there will be some new macro jump in technology and some folk will be rehashing the same arguments as in this thread.
I don't hate my cell phone - it's the only phone I have. I love it and all it's features, but I agree with the video. My phone does not have to be attached to my hand 24-7.

Yeah, but we'll be doing it through some really ultra cool mind controlled technology

Since I know it is the only phone you have, sometimes I wont call you. It just seems intrusive. I like the phone that sits on the desk or the wall. Takes messages. Is never driving, running a chainsaw or just relaxing.
