In a web exclusive interview, political scientist Adolph Reed Jr. talks with me about his new article in the March issue of Harper's Magazine -- a challenge to America's progressives provocatively titled, "Nothing Left: The Long, Slow Surrender of American Liberals."...

Yes, we should just give up now... :rofllol :LMAO:

Here's how the GoTeaBaggers fared in the last election:

Hispanics - Dems by 71%
Women - Dems by 12% lead
Blacks - Dems by 97%
LGBT - Dems by 48%
Youth Vote - 48% (STRONGLY tied to Republican intransigence on Gay Rights/Marriage Equality/Social issues); and the never-ending GOTP attempts to make voting harder for students with voter-suppression laws. You've lost the Youth Vote for a generation.
Old, Angry White Guys - GOTP shrunk from 79% to 71%, and continuing to shrink as they either die off, or become informed enough to realize that voting for the Republicans is in their own worst interests.

So, PLEASE continue doing what yer doing...Keep up the Social Issues, and insulting every single demographic. You're running out of old, angry white guys. We're all so glad to see that you spent $10-million on a study to tell you why you lost, why you continue to lose, and that you continue to completely ignore.

Let us know how that "old, angry, white guy" strategy works out for ya.... :rofllol :LMAO:

As demonstrated by LadyJazzer, liberals are the ones who are angry. Reminds me of Homer Simpson's hatred of Flanders because Flanders is a better man than Homer.

The Issue That Could Finish Off the Republican Party
Steve Deace | Mar 01, 2014

In all seriousness though, to reply to the OP, here's the one sentence that reduces this article to ridiculousness:

In the piece, Reed writes that Democrats and liberals have become too fixated on election results

Sorry, but that applies to BOTH parties and is why we're in such a mess. Elected reps who immediately start attending fundraising events and spending their time building coffers and favors with special interest groups just to get re-elected are not doing their job serving this country, and if that author thinks it's only Dems doing it, he hasn't been paying attention to opensecrets.org and has partisan blinders on.

"If you vote Democrat or Republican, you are part of the problem, not the solution." - Jesse Ventura

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

How does the fact that it applies to both parties render it ridiculous?

The author applies it only to Democrats - that part is ridiculous.

The author was writing about democrats. Is this part of the new thought police? Any thing critical of democrats has to give equal time to bad mouthing republicans. I would have thought that Bill Moyers and the DailyKos would have a large amount of credit in that department.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Nope, I don't say things based on any "thought police", it's just my own opinion that articles like this that focus on partisan blame serve only to divide us further and solve absolutely no problems. I dislike not solving problems. :Winkorange:

Now, if he wanted to discuss how to go about getting money out of politics, so that politicians didn't focus so much on fundraising for re-election and serving special interests that bankroll them, that is a topic I could consider.

 But you are being unrealistic. :letsfight: Currently we have a two fisted monster, Dems on one side, GOP on the other side, who smash any party that offers an alternative to their bipartisan rule.
