Does Berkeley get it!

"BERKELEY, Calif. — Delivering a rare speech for a Republican at this bastion of liberalism, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul on Wednesday was given multiple standing ovations by the left-wing audience after railing against government surveillance and warning the students: “Your right to privacy is under assault.”...

Ron and Rand Paul have always had a lot of support from the young who seem to came more about freedom than their paranoid elders who don't care that NSA knows their underwear size.

Wow, a liberal college that didn't ban or yell down a non-liberal... gotta mark that one on the calendar!

It was always the women, and above all the young ones, who were the most bigoted adherents of the Party, the swallowers of slogans, the amateur spies and nosers−out of unorthodoxy

It is much easier to defend the notion that Rand Paul is a liberal than it is to defend the notion that Obama is.

A liberal is one who believes that the only legitimate purpose of government is the protection of individual rights. There are many today who seek to be called liberal even though they are the antithesis of liberal.

I personally believe we should stop the political correctness nonsense and start calling spades spades. The modern liberal/progressive is actually a statist, one who believes in placing planning and economic control in the realm of a highly centralized government. Perhaps it is time to stop calling people names they choose for themselves, names which are chosen to give illusion instead of clarity with regards to philosophy and instead refer to them according to what their actions reveal them to be.

Yes, railing about NSA surveillance to a Berkley crowd is almost certainly an indication of groundswell support for a presidential run...

PLEASE!!.... Do everything you can to ensure that Rand Paul is the nominee in 2016....

I Agree

WHAT? It is not about his political aspirations. It is about young people opposing fascists even when they are democrats.

In other words your waiting for old white non-democrats to die might not be enough to kill freedom in this country. Sorry about that. :Cheeky:

Oh, I think it will... I'm waiting for enough of the old, angry white guys to die, and then all you have is Rush Limbaugh yelling at the empty phones....

Still true:

Youth Vote - 48% (STRONGLY tied to Republican intransigence on Gay Rights/Marriage Equality/Social issues); and the never-ending GOTP attempts to make voting harder for students with voter-suppression laws.

Old, Angry White Guys - GOTP shrunk from 79% to 71%, and continuing to shrink as they either die off, or become informed enough to realize that voting for the Republicans is in their own worst interests.
