It's a valid question, Fred, regardless of the asterisks.

What do you expect when you call us "economic illiterates" and you yourself don't seem to be aware of how tax systems in other countries work?

California has the most "progressive" tax system in this country... how's that workin out for them? One thing that always gets lost in these country comparison tactics is that most successful countries have adopted American economic models based on what has made this country such a magnet for people around the world who want to make a better life for themselves and their families.

In my opinion, the word "progressive" has been tragically redefined by people who consistently prove they are unable to make progress on anything.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

So a progressive tax system is compatible with capitalism.

They will lawyer up, like Warren Buffet who has a team of lawyers who will keep delaying having to pay his taxes, or move to more tax friendly countries like Monaco and Bermuda. Plus the House and Senate are full of multi-millionaires who will fight Senator Sanders wealth confiscation schemes.

Public relations and you fell for it. Warren claims he wants the ultra rich to pay more taxes but if you actually look at his deeds, you will see he has a whole team of lawyers making sure the IRS has to fight tooth and nail to get an extra quarter out of him. You see the same thing in Hollywood, these actors will claim they want to pay more taxes but then you see they create corporations of themselves so they get to pay the corporate rate instead of the individual and they will also get to deduct production costs since they are often executive producers on their own films. Hypocrites? Maybe not, they might just be clueless signing any documents that are put in front of them by their lawyers and accountants. Personally I do think the smart celebrities who have been able to hold onto their money know all the tricks to keep the IRS out of their pockets.

Yes, but to what degree? Off the top of my head analogy... alcohol is compatible with gasoline, but if I mix too much of it in my tank, the car will start running like crap.

There's always an equilibrium point for everything and if you think states like CA have tax policy right, I'd like to see that data.
