The Gallup Poll cited is based on how the individual self identifies. It would be helpful if the criteria by which one identified as a "moderate" were stated.
I would have like to have seen a poll taken of individuals that self identified on a variety of issues. To name a few, the 1st Amendment, 2nd Amendment, abortion, sex education for kindergartners, discriminatory practices against Asian-Americans in college admissions, etc.

PODCAST
"The Good Fight" podcast searches for the ideas, policies and strategies that can beat authoritarian populists like Donald Trump—over the next four years, and the next forty.
Certainly an unbiased source.
(Full disclosure: The Johns Hopkins University is my alma mater) Now it is probably sexist to say alma mater.
America has always been very fickle and less Americans identify with a party then ever before. These "free agents" tend to vote against extremists. It would be very interesting to see a Middle of the Road 3rd Party rise up. Too bad I think both the Democrats and Republicans would never permit it.

Funny, it sounds like you’re describing what the Lincoln Project tried to capture but failed miserably. If, by voting against extremists, you mean nominating people like McCain and Romney, I don’t think you’ll ever see that again. Trump righted the Republican Party away from globalists. They were nothing more than democrat light before Trump.
I hope we get the real story eventually about January 6th. I'm pretty sure it was planned and executed by people who were not Trump supporters or even Republicans even though some of them did get caught up. Did everyone miss the Capitol police getting suspended for letting "rioters" in? Why did Pelosi turn down the offer of National Guard afgter warnings? Why was there an FBI Field Chief among those arrested? Why is nobody reporting or even admitting that a number of those arrested have been antifa? The Ministry of Truth can't hold this in forever but I'm sure it will just get labelled "conspiracy theory" by the people who don't want to know the truth.
IF the DOJ heads up the investigation that is being implemented....I think U will be surprised at the # OF
STOP THE STEAL TRUMP SUPPORTS who will be implicated....YES, others joined in...BUT
the majority OF THE MOB will be ID as the instigators.
Sadly it looks like the Biden administration will be as partisan as possible. I do not expect to see the truth from any of their investigations. It will be used solely as a way to tar and feather Republicans. 99.9999 percent of Republicans stayed home that day.
