I know that is the conventional wisdom, but it really isn't that way. The top 10% pay the majority of individual income taxes. And the bottom 25% often get their tax money refunded, plus they get an Earned Income Tax Credit. So you are right, a large percentage of Americans aren't paying in, they are actually pulling money from the IRS, the low income Americans.

Blame the politicians then, they write the tax code.
Of course corporations do provide millions of jobs, pay property taxes, provide services to billions of people worldwide.
And even provide campaign funds to those same politicians.

WTH do U think I have been talking about,.the monetary budget is front and center because of the stimulus
pkg....(A BIG CHUCK OF $$$$$)....there r those (collectively) moaning about the amount. What I have
attempted to point out is..the money is NOT available, BECAUSE OF SAID LOOPHOLES AND TAX INVASION...TIME AND TIME AGAIN. If the taxes were paid, laws revised so that this was illegal and jail
time was required...it would put the budget in alignment.
I disagree. If you give them more money, they will continue to spend more than they take in. Despite the pandemic, Texas receipts were are record highs in Trump's administration. Both parties joined together to spend record amounts, by saying it was a crisis.
