It seems ridiculous that Zarif was unaware of the widely reported alleged Israeli airstrikes in Syria, begging the question why he's claiming he didn't know.

The point isn't that Zarif may have already known, the point is that Kerry sold out our ally to our enemy. It's really not that difficult to understand.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

You state it as fact when it has not been proven. Kerry denies it and points to proof that the reports of Israeli involvement were already in the publican domain.

John Kerry, a former secretary of state, said on Monday that he had never discussed covert Israeli airstrikes in Syria with Iran’s foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, contrary to Mr. Zarif’s claim in a leaked conversation.

Mr. Zarif and Mr. Kerry spoke constantly when the two were negotiating the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. The Iranian foreign minister said in the recording, reported by The New York Times on Sunday, that Mr. Kerry had informed him that Israel had attacked Iranian interests in Syria at least 200 times.

The claim sparked a furor on Monday among conservatives who accused Mr. Kerry, who was secretary of state in the Obama administration and now serves as President Biden’s climate envoy, of betraying Israeli secrets.

But in a tweet on Monday evening, Mr. Kerry denied the assertion and pointed to reports long in the public domain about Israeli strikes on Iranian assets in Syria.

“I can tell you that this story and these allegations are unequivocally false. This never happened — either when I was Secretary of State or since,” Mr. Kerry wrote.

How about this explanation? Iran didn't know how committed the attacks until Secretary Kerry confirmed them.
Kerry is such a patriot, throwing his Vietnam medals away and providing Iran with verifiable intelligence.

You explanation doesn't fly because reports had been in the public domain about Israeli strikes on Iranian assets in Syria.

Why then is Iran throwing Kerry under the bus?

An attempt (apparently successful), to sow dissention among American citizens. The same as Russia's propaganda efforts.

Why would you choose to believe Iran over an American diplomat?

The facts: In July 2017, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told fellow world leaders on a hot mic that Israel had struck Hezbollah dozens of times in Syria. By August, an Israeli general confirmed Israel had struck Syrian and Hezbollah arms convoys nearly 100 times in the previous five years. And by September 2018, a senior Israeli official upped the number to more than 200, specifically citing Iranian targets struck in the previous two years.
