Harris Finally Does Her Job

91 days after being tasked with fixing their border crisis, Harris finally decided to go on Friday. Is it a coincidence that she’s going right before Trump decided to go? It’s also on a Friday, so watch this disaster get buried by the media.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Is a photo-op visit to the border a requirement to understand the border situation, or can she get the information from reports and staff? Do you know for certain that "she has not been doing her job?"

Well I’m just using some common sense here. If I was given such an important job, I would have been to that border immediately so I could talk directly to border agents, residents along the border, and I would probably take a helicopter along the border so I could get a first hand view of the crisis. I think it’s important for our leaders to be seen, just like when they are expected to visit natural disaster areas. Jmo

Funny thing about common sense - everybody thinks they have it.

Funny thing about trying to to continue a debate… some people conveniently try to end them with snarky comments. I think my response was very reasonable… or maybe you disagree?

The point is, Rick, that she can do her job while in Washington. I'm pretty sure that you are pointing out her not going to the border in the past 91 days as a way to be critical of her job performance, because you think it's common sense to go there. If the VP had gone there within the past three months, you'd probably be critical of her for using it as a photo-op.

I understand that the VP is on the other team from what you've selected, but this is kind of petty.

This is not rocket science. Dem after dem went to the border last administration to bemoan the horrible conditions that were all blamed on Trump who implemented positive changes.

Now the dems avoid the border because it would highlight the the even more horrible conditions that they are responsible for.

Do you also think that Presidents just get in the way when they visit disaster areas like Superstorm Sandy? They should just stay home and read reports, right?

It's not clear if El Paso will allow Trump to hold a rally there unless he agrees to pay $560,000 that he owes the city for a past campaign appearance there.

To a degree, yes, Fred, I think they do get in the way of rescue and clean up efforts. Visits to disaster areas are, essentially, just an opportunity to show their face and demonstrate a sense of compassion. How much information do you think they actually receive from their visit? Do you actually think they get data from the in-person talks with rescue personnel? The only thing they would take away from a visit like that is to understand, on a human level, the emotion of the disaster.

Or I suppose the Prez could get some exercise by tossing paper towels into the crowd.
