As I said, I haven't spent a lot of time looking into solutions for homelessness in the Denver Metro area. I'm not an expert in a lot of things, but when I pay someone to perform a service, I expect them to find the best solutions to my problem and it's not up to me to know the answers. Does that make sense? If I wanted to take the time, I'm sure I could find better answers than letting homeless people camp in any public spaces and shit on the sidewalks, but I'm pretty busy most of the time and I'm not getting paid to do that. If you think the current strategy is working well enough then let that be known, otherwise you should be as concerned as I am as we all watch Denver go down the toilet.koobookie wrote:
I see, so you criticize the current policies, yet have no answer other than "it's not working." would it not make more fiscal sense to provide a $20k rental for a homeless person rather than continue the $42k to $104k currently being spent? Perhaps we could look to what other countries have done to solve their homeless problem.
And no, homelessness is not "just being drunk, so get sober" solution. Some homeless are there through no fault of their own.

Many of the homeless in Denver do have jobs and income but not enough money for these outrageous rents and housing prices. Same issue in California, every year they increase the regulations on building new homes, make it easier, not harder.

One example is "green roofs". California is requiring green roofs on new buildings. So either add solar panels or greenery on your roof.koobookie wrote:

What are these regulations, Fred?

I think you're seeing typical summer nomads camping while the weather is good. I doubt you'll see them around when the temp drops below freezing. Maybe you'll be lucky like us in the city and they can build some low income high rises near your home. The liberal epicenter of Colorado (Boulder) doesn't allow that in their welcoming and diverse city.homeagain wrote:

NOT enough shelters...camping interments down by the river park/walking paths...you will see emerging
obvious homeless....rent is outrageously hi here and living out of cars is not uncommon.(emerging out of the bushes,to re enter the world for the day.) Housing is out of reach for most home buyers, like everywhere else.
