I'd love to give my opinion on this but in order to talk about your article, it would be helpful to get your overall view. Do you think the mass exit of people from blue states to red states is irrational or is it justified? The same question applies when it comes to people pulling their kids from government controlled schools... are the reasons justified?

I disagree with NPR's theory. They say we are getting more partisan but in reality, party membership continues to fall. Yes, there are hyper partisans on both sides, but the trend is they are not solid blue or solid red. The unaffiliated is at record highs and these voters tend to go back and forth. In 2020, they voted against President Trump, and in 2022, they will vote against the Democrat politicians they blame for inflation and rising interest rates.

What would a "moderate" state look like? I don't look at states as being extreme or moderate, I look for more free or less free. Everything comes down to freedom and nothing matters more to people who think like me. This is why I would NEVER buy a home that had an HOA run by power hungry little tyrants, but that's just at the micro level.

FIRST question out our mouths (thru 7 home transactions)....is there an HOA. Burland Ranchetts (1st home) had one, it was so loosey goosey it was a joke. The mountains HOA's r kinda of a joke, the city
is another animal.. HOA'S r out of hand in the metro areas. NO Hoa where we live now,but the diversity
of the population is minimal, which presents a problem....MANY churches in a small town and small mindedness is prevalent. It is not a moderate area.

If u r seeking independence and a sense of self reliance...ALASKA is where u will find that.....specifically from the "sourdoughs" (raised in the state)

So you're saying that small towns with a lot of churches are extreme? (the opposite of moderate?)

I guess it depends on your definition of moderate. Do the churches inspire more crime in the area or intolerance? I know the gut urge of the left is to assume that small town folks who go to church on Sundays are intolerant racists, but I've never seen the evidence, other than anecdotal stories that can't possibly reflect all small towns. If I lived in a small town where there was an obvious intolerance problem, I'd be embarrassed to live there and would find a new town.

Great point Rick. I have lived in small towns with a high church going population and I have lived in godless urban environments. Lots less crime in the small towns.
Also felt safer.

TO BOTH OF U.......when a "neighbor" states "even tho I like u,u will go to hell for not believing in God"(spoken to someone who practices the Bahai Faith) when gay LBGT kids r told they will go to hell...when YOUR BELIEF system is not well represented, when ethnic diversity is almost non existent....
the small town attitude is stifling. As for crime.BECAUSE the front range migrated over the MOUNTAIN, because all small towns r experiencing the same shift, the "vib" is changing...slowly. Just as a side note, Hwy550 is the "drug corridor" and our crime stats have sky rocketed....it is NOT MAYBERRY.. This Town is a stronghold for REPUBLICANS...AND Bimbo BOEBART is FAV.

Small town safety is a unicorn.....drugs, crimes to obtain drugs, abuse, alcoholism r ever present. I know this because Montrose presents a CITIZENS POLICE ACADEMY EVER YEAR... it is a 3 week program to give u an understanding of what a small town faces when it's candidates/staffing is not adequate and the numerous
obstacles that must be overcome to keep the town from drug cartels and gang activity.

You can always move into a more diverse community in Colorado like Commerce City or Aurora. I think you will find a lot more crime and hatred there. I will stay rural.
