Governor Polis Pitches Colorado Disneyland

Would you want Disneyland to open a park in Colorado? My sister would love it, she goes every other year. I don't think the Front Range needs a Disneyland. Maybe the San Luis Valley or the 4 corners area?

Polis is a moron. The reason those theme parks work is because they are in places with milder climates that can be open year round.

It was a publicity stunt, nothing more.

Farmer said the bond debt could total more than $2 billion and that tax authorities are increasing their estimates as they learn more about Reedy Creek’s outstanding liabilities.

“This is a very real impact, the extent of which we don’t fully understand yet,” Farmer said.

If the liabilities of $1.7 billion or more are transferred to Orange and Osceola counties, he said, the debt could amount to $1,000 per taxpayer.

“If the counties are left holding the bag, the state might have to come to their aid,” Farmer said. “So it’s not even just a tax issue for these two counties. It affects every taxpayer in the state of Florida.”

Fine argued that if the bonds are transferred to the counties, the tax revenue that currently funds the bond payments would also be transferred.

The radical left needs to be stopped and no cost is too high. You may not have a problem with the indoctrination of children but the majority of Americans do have a problem with it. It's long past time that conservatives stopped playing defense and go scorched earth on these perverted commies that really don't care about people, they only care about spreading their woke ideology. I don't care if Disney goes bankrupt and they turn that space into a landfill for dead windmills and solar panels.

Lots of other "coulds" in the article. If you would bother to delve into the laws of FL you would find that the state has the authority to levee excise taxes on Disney if the state of FL rules that Disney is "dumping" excessive privately incurred debt onto the taxpayers.

I also recall pretty clearly that according to Democrats "corporations are not people", so these non-humans should not be dictating what children should or should not be taught. It's also fascinating how Democrats are now more supportive of big corporations than Republicans. When you have Twitter, Google, Facebook, Youtube, and most of the big media in your corner, you have more control over messaging than at any time in the history of this country., To not acknowledge that unfair power is just epic dishonesty.

“The Reedy Creek Improvement District is a local government right now,” he said. “So the taxpayers of that district already owe that money. Yes, the bonds would go to other municipal governments in the same place. But the revenues go along with it. Disney is taxed by this improvement district. Those taxes are used to pay that debt.”

Tax experts say that in order for the counties to collect additional revenue from Disney to pay the bond debt, the counties would have to create a new special tax district of their own. Even if they created a new special “Disney” tax district, the tax rate would be capped below that of the current district rate, leaving Orange and Osceola counties with Reedy Creek’s debt service but with less revenue to pay it off.

“We shouldn’t be moving at warp speed on something that can have such far-ranging economic impacts,” Farmer said.

You must have liked Gary Farmer's reference to "warp speed", to have bolded the comment. Perhaps you would like to add that he is the democrat minority leader in the Florida Senate and has received substantial contributions from Disney.

In that I am an expert on "experts say" perhaps you would share with us the names of the tax experts that your post references?

had a horde of hideous decisions being made.....the results have been blatantly miscalculated. THIS could be another asinine idea...JMO
