Words Have Meaning, Depending on Your Party

Rather than take another thread off the rails, I thought I'd start one about how politicians and the media use and define words for political gain. The most recent one I hear over and over on left wing sites is the word "revenge". Trump recently used the word and the media jumped on it like Michael Moore on a chicken wing. They want their consumers to think that revenge means actions that are criminal, when in fact, revenge can simply mean retaliation in-kind. Not only Trump, but everyone in Trump's circle has been caught up in some kind of investigation... it's amazing he was able to get as much done as he did. After all the millions spent trying to pin a crime on Trump and his family/allies, the Democrats caught a few side show scumbags. I'd say some revenge is warranted if Trump gets reelected.

Hillary certainly got some revenge herself when her Steele Dossier full of Russian bullshit was used by the FBI muddy up Trump's presidency. Of course it didn't work out perfectly but it worked well enough that she must have felt like she got her revenge,

My memory actually served me well as I remembered Obama used the word, but the media gave him a pass, mostly. Here's a source that actually criticized Obama's words:

Election '12: President Obama closed his argument to supporters in Ohio Friday by telling them to vote for him because "voting is the best revenge." Revenge? Who exactly is the president mad at?

Revenge is a word associated with the blood-soaked affairs of the Middle East, not the politics of the U.S. So it was odd to hear Obama telling supporters not to boo his opponent, Mitt Romney, because "voting is the best revenge."

It's emblematic of Obama politics — not the post-partisanship he once claimed to champion, but the reality: a mean, divisive, aggrieved politics of resentment, in which any challenge, or any success of another is seen as a wound, an unjustified gain to be avenged. In this case, the object of vengeance is Romney — who had the effrontery to challenge him for the White House and may just succeed.

It's part of a pattern. It started with Michelle Obama's 2008 statement that "for the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country," presumably because the nation was accepting her husband as a candidate.

It extended to Obama's 2008 admonition to allies to vote: "If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun."

And again in 2010: "If Latinos sit out the election instead of saying, 'We're going to punish our enemies and we're gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us' . .. then I think it's gonna be harder." Punish?

Those highlighted statements would have been received much differently had they come from Trump's mouth. Even Michelle's statement about not being proud of this country until her husband was elected was glossed over, but if Melania had spoken those same words, the media would have destroyed her.

Stop letting the media define what words mean... think for yourself.

Trump has been indicted 91 times. He is currently defending himself in four different cases, ranging from stealing top secret documents to inciting open rebellion against the United States.

Those four cases were all brought as a result of Grand Juries reviewing evidence and recommending indictment.

Oh, don't forget the two guilty verdicts in the porn star hush money case, and the guilty verdict for sexual abuse (rape) and defamation.

These are not at all trivial, nor are they "persecution." They are serious, valid indictments, and guilty verdicts, against him. These would not have been brought had there not been evidence.

He can talk all he wants about getting revenge but they are just more of his empty promises. He didn't put Hillary in jail last time, he didn't even bother putting her on trial.

And stop worrying Democrats, he didn't get his Wall built either and now 2.5 million illegal aliens flood the nation. Astounding, Colorado barely has 3 million people.

driver8, you're a guy (I'm assuming), that I'd really like to have a civil back and forth with but you never stick around after your little attacks. Try it this time.

Please explain to me how I'm wrong in saying that people, all people, should be allowed the same level of legal protections. If you agree that all citizens should have the same level of due process, then how exactly can Trump be guilty of anything without having gone through the same legal process that you and I should be afforded? I look forward to your reasoned response.

For some perspective:

OIbama: the agent of 'revenge'
www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-insider...52a2c5953e_blog.html

Let's also not forget Obama's hateful allies that helped to shape Obama's hateful presidency:

On Friday, President Barack Obama told his supporters at a campaign rally – inside a public high school, no less – to vote for revenge! That definitely sounds like something the Rev. Jeremiah Wright would say, comparable to the infamous “Godd---- America” quote and other phrases that he delivered to his masses when Barack Obama was in the audience instead of standing before the masses delivering his own type of hate.

You see, If Obama uses the word revenge, it's political revenge, but if Trump uses it, the media tells you it's CRIMINAL revenge. Can you not see this?
