LONG READ BUT COMPREHENSIVE...we, as a nation, have created a monster since 9/11......our standing among many nations/people is abysmal.

A third factor is the failure of U.S. foreign policy. From the Second World War through the nineteen-nineties, military deployments were usually accompanied by diplomatic initiatives. But the U.S. response to threats since the 9/11 attacks, in 2001, has been to act militarily. “This is larger than the Gaza war or the Houthis firing missiles,” Kurtzer said. “Diplomacy has been thrown under the bus.” As a result, people across the region have increasingly seen American involvement through the barrel of a gun, with dwindling credibility for its diplomacy. “It’s been like your car falling apart,” he said. “First the carburetor goes, then the oil, the fluids, and the wires. And then you’re stuck sitting on the side of the road.”

DIPLOMACY IS DEAD..SO HERE WE R.....MIRED IS QUICKSAND, almost 25 years of mis- steps, stupid strategy, and lack of solid intelligence that
could have avoided this FUBAR....welcome to the world of on going wars.

Isolationism? Sounds tempting. Let Iran and the Houthis close the Red Sea and the Suez Canal.
Maybe that will convince NATO nations to spend more on defense.

But do we really want Iran to win here?

Reagan had it right... peace through strength works and appeasing terrorist nations like Iran leads to what we are seeing. Nobody is afraid of the US when it's led by weak people who don't understand human nature.

Obama started this and it was done on purpose. His stupid short-sighted deal with Iran was a joke and they have been laughing at us since he was elected and got is Nobel Peace Prize (or Noble Peace Prize as KJP would say).

It was always the women, and above all the young ones, who were the most bigoted adherents of the Party, the swallowers of slogans, the amateur spies and nosers−out of unorthodoxy
