Trump elaborated on his proposal to eliminate the Department of Education by describing what he envisioned the agency would look like: “I think you will have like one person plus a secretary. You’ll have a secretary. The secretary will have one person plus a secretary. And all the person has to do is: Are you teaching English? Are you teaching arithmetic? What are you doing? Reading, writing, and arithmetic. And are you not teaching woke? Not teaching woke is a very big factor. But we’ll have a very small staff.”
Also on Tuesday, the former president claimed that supporters of the Green New Deal want to tear down every building in Manhattan and replace them with ones without windows, adding that they also want bathrooms without water.
Since the Federal department of education was created, test scores have dropped.
Distribute those billions of dollars to state schools, even better, poor rural school districts, like Park County.

he average test scores for U.S. 13-year-olds have dipped in reading and dropped sharply in math since 2020, according to new data from National Assessment of Educational Progress.
The average scores, from tests given last fall, declined 4 points in reading and 9 points in math, compared with tests given in the 2019-2020 school year, and are the lowest in decades. The declines in reading were more pronounced for lower performing students, but dropped across all percentiles.
The math scores were even more disappointing. On a scale of 500 points, the declines ranged from 6 to 8 points for middle and high performing students, to 12 to 14 points for low performing students.
I don't know if the sole cause of lower test scores is the fault of the Dept of Education, as you insinuate, or if there are other reasons, but making generalizations is fun, isn't it, Fred.
JMO.......the pay scale of teachers might be a factor AND smart phones, social media.......ALL CLASSROOMS SHOULD BAN CELL PHONES WHILE IN SESSION. attention disorder is rampant.

They Bureau of Education sure isn't helping. Just spending money and our education system hasn't improved. It has just become worse.
Some show that America keeps spending more per student but much of that spending isn't reducing class size, it is increasing the number of people employed at the schools. Not increasing teachers. And as birth rates continue to decline, spending increases. So why aren't we seeing improvement?
Too many half empty schools staying open? Maybe we do need to ban smart phones in class?

The department of education, like pretty much every government agency, has failed the people. It should be completely dismantled and all the people at the top should be fired… especially Randy Winegarden who singlehanded ruined many lives during Covid. Plus she has a John Denver haircut which always makes me laugh.
The dept is a problem. HOWEVER,as u so often state......what is REALLY the plan, what was stated is NOT a plan and the deliver of the plan sounded incoherent. OF COURSE,the Manhattan mess was not even mentioned by u (collectively)....I know it is difficult to absorb that YOUR CHOICE for POTUS is mentally declining, and EVERY day it becomes more and more apparent.......the nuclear code will be initiated by a
mentally deficient man.....is that REALLY the scenario u wish for your grandchildren and adult children????

OK, show me why despite spending increasing for education year after year, more and more school kids aren't making the grade.
Many Deep Blue school districts like DC, Baltimore, and Detroit are actually declining. Can't blame the GOP for that.
Very embarrassing for the NEA and the very expensive Department of Education.

It’s pointless for me to try and debate you on whether or not Trump is “mentally deficient”… nothing I could say would matter.
What matters to me is stopping the leftist policies that are destroying this country. If you ever want to talk about actual policies and failed government agencies that are mostly poppy Democrats, I’d happily participate.
If you really any to make credible political arguments, then you shouldn’t gloss over the failures of government by deflecting to one man that you hate. If it’s not Trump, it will be someone else who works to reverse the damage the left is doing to the country. The alternative to Trump will also be called Hitler or a fascist or a threat to democracy because he/she doesn’t follow the insane Democrat line.
