You really think the US will be unable to recover from Canada's new tariffs on American products?
So Trudeau puts a tariff on American car parts heading the GM and Ford car plants in Ontario. The plants shut down. Thousands unemployed. Personally I think Canada will suffer much more from this tariff war than the US. Yes, Canada and the US are each other's biggest trading partners but Canada depends on us for a bigger share of those trades.

2% of the US world trade is from Canada. Fairly easy to replace, even domestically, oil, forestry products, and maple syrup.
Vermont maple syrup, Montana wood products, and North Dakota oil.

Have you seen the value of the Canadian dollar, HA? It dropped to it's lowest since 2003. Canada has ZERO leverage and must now comply or be economically wrecked. This is how a strong leader gets things done.
Now, tell me, specifically, how we may all be "fubared".

The smarter minds in Canada are pausing and looking around. After decades of feeding the Climate Control hucksters and other made up crises. They are starting to realize they aren't very competitive in the global market. Instead of being ashamed about big oil and fossil fuels, now they need to emphasize how necessary it is to the economy.

Canada makes concessions on the eve of the tariffs becoming active to delay the date where those tariffs are applied to give Canada and the US more time to negotiate a trade agreement. That doesn't sound fubared to me . . . sounds like we're about to get more help securing the northern border and a larger market in Canada for US products to lessen the current trade imbalance. Whodathunkit . . .
it is early in the tariff "game"...TRUMP IS KNOW FOR HEAD FAKES AND BACK PEDALING, IN OTHER WORDS....HE CAN'T BE TRUSTED ,HE JUST PISSED THE ARAB WORLD OFF...not too bright,but he thinks ( and his followers trust) he AND ONLY HE CAN SAVE THE NATION.
That it's early in the process and Canada is making concessions to avoid the tariffs, at their expense, is good progress early in the process.
Biden thought the same, so did Obama, so did LBJ, so did Nixon, so did Reagan, so did Clinton. Goes with the territory of being the duly elected leader of the most powerful republic out there. If you don't have the ego to match, you don't have the hutzpah for the job.
