The US is a much older nation, coming up on our 250th anniversary whereas Beijing is going for one hundred years.
China is one of the oldest countries on Earth. Even though it has certainly evolved over the years, it is one of the few places that has retained the same name for multiple millennia. The history of China dates back more than 4,000 years. It is possible that China is significantly older than that, but that is as far back as recorded history goes. China has flourished economically, experienced a tremendous amount of hardship, and has become a world power once again. Anyone who is interested in learning about the history of the world cannot do so without studying the history of China.
Guess we will have to disagree about China. A feudal empire from hundreds of years ago is not the same nation as a communist dictatorship. The Chicoms have thrown away the religious history of the nation. They are even trashing the Confucius teachings of past centuries. They are fundamentally quite different. From subsistence agriculture to industrialization. From rural huge families to tiny urban households.
Just like saying Putin's Russia has any similarity compared to Peter The Great's. Peter welcomed the West to bring his nation into modern times. Vlad rejects Western style democracy and doesn't want them poisoning his country.
