That's sortakinda correct . . . we are spending over $1 Trillion/year to service the debt incurred to finance the individual welfare programs enacted by the federal government over the last 60+ years. The federal government was not instituted to take care of each individual person residing within the Union, it was instituted to provide protection from foreign and domestic threats upon the liberty of every individual person residing within the Union. That is why individual welfare programs financed by the federal government are doomed to failure . . . the federal government was conceived as a macro entity, not a micro one.
