NICE DEFLECTION....NOT, U STILL DID NOT ADDRESS THE LA PIERRE PIECE OF THIS PUZZLE AND HE WAS A PROMINENT PART OF THE ORG.......IT'S OK, I UNDERSTAND U R PART OF THE UNICORN UNIVERSE...WE ALL HAVE CHOICES.
La Pierre, and others, were indicted for corruption. Not the kind where you are paying for the travel, lodging, food expenses, and other gifts for legislators fleeing their State to avoid a quorum, but the kind where donations to an organization are misused for luxury items for ones self. Hands in the cookie jar as it were.
Now I know you want to take that civil case, involving harm done to the NRA itself by the leadership of the organization into something entirely different because you swallowed down the propaganda of your "trusted sources" with nary a chew first, but La Pierre did not, nor has he ever, improperly influenced legislators to protect the individual right to keep and bear arms that our federal Constitution proclaims "may not be infringed".
The trial, which began last month, cast a spotlight on the leadership, organizational culture and finances of the powerful lobbying group, which was founded more than 150 years ago in New York City to promote rifle skills and grew into a political juggernaut that influenced federal law and presidential elections.
Before he stepped down, LaPierre had led the NRA’s day-to-day operations since 1991, acting as its face and becoming one of the country’s most influential figures in shaping gun policy.
During the trial, state lawyers argued that he dodged financial disclosure requirements while treating the NRA as his personal piggy bank, liberally dipping into its coffers for African safaris and other questionable expenditures. PER A LONG ARTICLE FROM AP
SO, YES HE DID LOBBY AND WAS INFLUENTIAL IN ANTI GUN CONTROL IN OUR GOV.
I MAY NOT BE A MEMBER OF NRA,BUT MY DH IS....SO I TAKE INTEREST....I BELIEVE IN PRACTICING AND BE PROFICIENT, NOT JUST BE A MANCHO MALE WITH A GUN....SO, JUST FOR THE RECORD PS....HE DID,IN FACT, SCREW WITH THE LAWS GOVERNING GUNS AND HOW THEY
WERE IMPLEMENTED.....HE WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR LAX LAWS THAT HAVE MAIMED AND KILLED INNOCENT CHILDREN....A MASSACRE THAT IS UNFORGIVABLE AND THERE IS A SPECIAL PLACE IN HELL FOR THIS ABHORRENT MAN.
Everytown, Giffords Foundation, Brady, they all lobby and are influential in firearm legislation not only at the federal level, but also at the State and local levels.
La Pierre's actions along the legislation line are no different than the efforts of the above organizations whose CEOs are doing the exact same thing that La Pierre did for the NRA, but I don't see you trying to make villains out of the others for the same conduct . . .

JUST WOW....WHAT A REACH....IT IS A SOMEWHAT PUZZLING COME BACK....PREVENTION OF KILLING INNOCENT CHILDREN, MAKING CONCERTS,MASS GATHERINGS AND FESTIVALS SAFER
AS OPPOSED TO ALLOWING ANY INDIVIDUAL...SANE OR OTHERWISE, OBTAIN A GUN WITHOUT A COMPLETE BACK GROUND CHECK....AND MAKING SURE THAT MOST DEADLY FIREARMS R
LEGAL AND OBTAINABLE BY ANYONE OF AGE......U R CERTAINLY ILLOGICAL IN YOUR MINDSET
Firearms are inanimate objects. They are neither good nor evil, they simply are. I could have a Browning M2 (50 caliber machine gun used in WW II) and 10,000 rounds of ammunition for it sitting in my basement and I promise you that unless I pick it up, load it, aim it at a person and pull the trigger it will sit in my basement and rot without ever harming a single person. You don't need to pass a law to prevent the gun from killing anyone, it can't kill anyone, it's an inanimate object.
Nor can you stop me from obtaining said arm if I have my mind set on acquiring it. You do know that it is perfectly legal for anyone over the age of 21 to own a machine gun that was manufactured prior to 1986, right? I can own the same Thompson sub-machine gun used by Capone's gang, or our soldiers on the battlefields of Europe and the Pacific Ocean. All I need to do is pay the $200 transfer stamp fee and an outrageous cost for the firearm itself.
90+% of the mass shooters pass a background check, they could buy a machine gun if they wanted to, all of the laws you are talking about won't stop a single individual set on the idea of mass murder. You can cast a lower receiver for an AR-15, you can machine one out of aluminum, it's a hunk of metal. You don't need a background check to buy a barrel, or ammunition, or a trigger group, or a butt stock, or a grip, or a scope, or sights, or optics, or magazines . . . you can't stop someone intent upon mass murder by making it illegal to buy an AR-15. The technology for semi-automatic firearms is a century plus old at this point HA, you can't put that toothpaste back in the tube, or that genie back in the bottle.
Know why Custer lost his last stand? Because anyone could buy what was then the most powerful rifle manufactured, the tube magazine lever action rifle and the soldiers under Custer's command had single shot Springfield trap rifles that had to be reloaded after every shot. Know what that means HA? Historically it has been shown that citizens of these United States had the right, the ability, to purchase, keep, and bear, arms that were not only equivalent to those issued to the common foot soldier by the federal government, but superior to that firearm.
And even if the NRA was shut down, there are five other pro 2nd Amendment groups who are also working to defend the Constitution.
And the other ones are doing amazing work in the courts. Limits on buying one gun a month are being overturned. Next, waiting limits on gun purchases will be decided.
If I already own three guns, why would making me wait three days to pick up a new shotgun help out anyone? Colorado passed that one last year. #fascist
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
U KNOW AND I KNOW THERE R LOOPHOLES AS BIG AS A TRUCK IN THE LAWS.....BLOCK THE LOOPHOLES....SIMPLE, EFFECTIVE AND JUST PERHAPS SOME LIVES WOULD BE SAVED.
