Next step...secession?

The Arizona legislature is set to vote on a bill where the State of Arizona will decide which federal laws are constitutional and which are not, and which federal laws Arizona will abide by and which they will not.

I wonder if this will become a trend across the nation.....

The fact that the states are finally questioning Federal mandates and constitutional questions is encouraging. For a long time the states were just willing to take the money (and strings) and just abide... as the dude says! I like the new trend!

I don't see how states can "decide" though, all they can do is challenge and let the courts decide.

...or they can tell the Feds what they are going to do, tell the Feds to shove it and like it or TAKE US TO COURT?

It is about time. Our gov't is a federation. The federal gov't is not over the states but is composed of the states. The states, collectively, decide what the federation is to do. Who else would tell the federation of states what they can do, except the states?

And if the states disagree? Civil war? That's what happened the last time some states said they weren't going to follow federal laws.

The states have been bullied by the feds for a long time. The feds have gotten too big for their britches, and need to understand their roll in the country. They should not have the ability to bully the states by withholding highway funds if the states don't set laws the way the feds want.

The US Department of Education is a great example, they take our money, take out what they want to support a giant bureaucracy, then dole out what’s left only if you agree to their demands. What business is it of the feds, how the good people of Colorado decide to educate their children?

Article VI, Clause 2 sets forth that the Federal Government reigns supreme over the states:

This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the constitution or laws of any state to the contrary notwithstanding.

That is the point. The feds are using this to bully states to do what they want.
